🗓️ Friday Diary of a Managing Director 👷🏼♂️
5:00am – Hit the gym. It gives me a clear head and sets me up for a productive day.
6:30am – Back to the office. Wrote the job list for the day and reviewed a new project tender.
7:15am – At Covers picking up materials for our Southsea project.
8:00am – Visited the Southsea project to deliver materials, ensure work was up to date and completed to a high standard, and prepare a cutting list for next week’s work.
9:30am – Drove to Fareham to clear down a project, create a snagging list for the remaining finishing touches, and help the lads load up the truck as the project enters its final stages. Checked in with the client and apologised for a delay in the works.
The delay has been caused by a manufacturing fault with the bifold doors. The paint finish suffered from “tiger striping” after being dried too quickly during production.
11:30am – Visited our Portchester project to check progress, provide further details to the team, and check in with the client to ensure they were happy with everything. Dormers were the main focus of today’s work.
12:30pm – Lunch in the van.
1:00pm – Visited a new lead in Swanwick to meet a potential client and gather information for a quotation.
Called the architect to help move the quotation forward and discussed plans relating to building regulations.
2:30pm – Back to the Portchester project to help the lads get the steels into position.

Regrettably ate a delicious doughnut from the famous Soothills, kindly gifted to me by one of the lads. Soothills bakery ltd
3:45pm – Visited Howdens to revise a kitchen design for a flood-damage project in North End.
4:15pm – Back to the office to make 100 phone calls, reply to emails and check that everyone has been paid correctly for the week.
5:00pm – Finished work… I hope.
A fairly packed day, but by construction standards, a relatively easy one. No major surprises, no emergencies, and only one doughnut consumed. I’ll take that as a win.
