The D&H Group (D&H Damp Proofing + D&H Carpentry & Construction) is looking for an organised admin to join the team.

✅ 10am–2pm, Mon–Fri
✅ £12.71 per hour
✅ Employed role
✅ 2–4 weeks training in Southsea then work from home with a weekly catch-up

Damp at low level in this one — and the cause was all outside. 🔎

The DPC had been bridged, and the main roof downpipe wasn't running into an outlet at all — just emptying straight onto the concrete slab against the wall.

We re-directed the downpipe into a proper outlet and installed a French drain along the base of the wall.

Two simple fixes, and the wall can finally dry out.

New bit of kit arrived this week 📦

It’s a Protimeter MMS3 — a moisture meter that maps damp across a wall without putting a hole in your decoration, and reads the room’s humidity and temperature while it’s at it.

Why that matters: the question is never really “is the wall wet?” It’s why. Condensation, a slow leak and genuine rising damp all look much the same on the surface, and each one needs a different fix. Getting that right first time is what saves you money.

That cold spot was causing condensation and localised damp, so we sealed it properly and repointed the surrounding area where the mortar had cracked 🔧

Small details like this make a big difference — warmer wall, no cold bridging, and helping prevent damp issues long-term 🙌

Next Stage – Ready for Finishing 🏁

Progress continues on this rising damp job in the dining room 💪

With the DPC injection complete, we’ve now moved onto the next phase — installing the membrane system and re-plastering. This will create a clean, dry barrier to protect the walls and ensure the damp issue doesn’t return.

Once finished, the space will be fully prepped and ready for the client to redecorate.

Before – Rising Damp Issue 🚧

This dining room was suffering from rising damp due to a high water table — causing moisture to travel up through the walls and damage the internal finish.

We’ve now hacked off the affected plaster to remove all contaminated material and carried out a DPC injection to stop moisture rising any further.

Next stage: membrane system and re-plastering to fully restore the space, ready for the client to redecorate.

This porch area previously suffered with mould — a common issue in spaces with poor insulation and fluctuating temperatures. By installing IsoTherm, we’ve improved the thermal efficiency of the space, helping to reduce condensation and control moisture build-up.
