Todays jobs repairing a few lathe’s in a training school we also do reports and safety checks for training schools and college’s for young engineers safety.

A bit of a repair on a Colchester mastiff bedway where the moglice compound had worn off, so replace with board and rescrape the saddle, sort the saddle gibs, and rebuild and recheck all alignments, problem was lines in rollers every 15mm or so which is caused by pinion on apron dropping out too low in rack and causing a line every tooth on rack.

Well today’s job is a Springfield bore grinder that’s crabbing, so take the slides off check the bedways and set the gibs up properly without hydraulic ram on, so we can get a good feel.

Then rebuild and see how we get on 👍👌

Seals require changing on a ROBBI grinder spindle

Also the bearings in a smtw spindle pulley noisey so they required replacing

Work on a xyz protrak today!

Problem was table wasn’t moving found to be the readout scale on x axis.

New scale and adapter plug fitted to get the right signal.

All fixed happy customer
