The Bodfal turbine is standing still.... I visited a few days ago to reset the vibration sensor. This is located in the top nacel (big box bit at the top). Once I climbed back down and reset the panel, the system then progressess through a series of checks before releasing the brakes. Now 4 years in on restarting the turbine and servicing parts, Ive become accustomed to the sound it makes, and the last start up didnt sound quite right. There was a loud harmonic hum at two rotation speeds as the gearbox and generator spun up. Turns out that a bearing in the generator was failing and needs to be replaced.
This highlights the need for continuity in maintenance, the same person/team get to know what the normal is and can spot things before catestrophic failure..... something worth thinking about when looking for a cheaper quote, might save you some coins now, but could cost dearly in the long run.....

Call out to a heating system that the owner couldnt quite work out. Turns out the original installer left the red installation over ride pins fitted. Sadly all had failed and had to be replaced.
New valve actuators fitted and all zones opening and closing as originally designed.

So back at it with some handy tips for managing your holiday let heating.
Anxiety for owners is huge on this topic, especiall as outside temperatures drop. Any smart thermostat can help, and most will give you warnings when something is not right.
For more complex underfloor systems the addition of flow temperature sensors add another layer of information to help reduce anxiety on a system running right.... With Loxone UK the addition of sensors provides advance notification that heat is being delivered to a slow acting heat source.....

Retrofit fitted to this self locking door. This will eventually provide graded access through 2 doors to authorised users. 1 group only get through the main door, and tenants also pass through door 2.
Nuki integrates well with Loxone UK which is also managing other centralised features in them communal spaces.....
