Description: Stone Polisher

Job Purpose: To assist in the manufacture and installation of bespoke stonework and the manufacture of stone products.

Job Duties:
• Work at all times to health, safety, environmental and other company standards as they apply and as they are described in risk assessments, company Health & Safety manual, company policies handbook
• Manufacture of bespoke stone products, including:
o Study and interpret assembly and fabrication instructions
o Read and interpret blueprints and sketches
o Fabricate, pick up and assemble bespoke stone products
o Interpret measurements & verify specifications as required
o Identify and resolve fabrication issues
o Use manual polishing equipment
o Operate automated polishing machinery
o Operate accurately saws and cutting equipment
o Load and unload stonework using lifting gear as appropriate
o Use forklift trucks for loading, unloading and moving things around the yard and factory
• Keep work areas and machinery clean and safe
• Actively participate in improving quality and productivity
• Provide other manual and general labour services as requested
• Take responsibility for the quality of own work
• Report progress of work tasks to management and raise any issues or problems with management as soon as possible

Job Requirements:
• Manual handling certificate and the ability to lift up to 25kg weight according to Health and Safety manual handling guidelines
• Use of abrasive wheels (certain operatives)
• Use of stone polishing equipment
• Forklift driving
• Stone drilling equipment

We are hiring!
Cerrig Granite & Slate Ltd is a family-owned stone fabrication company based in Pwllheli, North Wales. We employ 20 people to manufacture countertops for commercial projects across the UK and for domestic projects in the local area, as well as manufacturing stone cladding and headstones.
Our current lead estimator is being promoted within the company, and we are therefore looking for someone to fill her shoes.
Job Description
You will be required to produce quotes for worktops for commercial and domestic clients using Cerrig’s own Excel based calculators. This will require you to read and understand drawings, use Excel and over time to become familiar with Cerrig’s capabilities and the different materials that we work with.
You will be communicating daily with our customers via email, telephone and face-to-face.
You will also need to communicate within Cerrig with the production team, scheduling fitting of worktops, communicating customer changes etc and will be expected to take on various admin duties as required.
Training will be given on the job, initially shadowing our lead estimator.
This is a full-time role, the place of work will be primarily at Cerrig’s factory in Pwllheli.
Skills Required:
Good numeracy skills
Possess good IT skills including being proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products especially Excel
Good written English and oral communication skills
Personable and enthusiastic
Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential
Driving license

Gan leihau eu costau a’u hôl troed carbon, mae Cerrig Granite and Slate yn defnyddio buddsoddiad o £30,000 gennym ni i osod paneli solar.

Gyda chyfanswm o 70kW, disgwylir i’r paneli solar dorri costau ynni £10,000 bob blwyddyn yn ogystal ag arbed 218 tunnell o CO2 dros oes 25 mlynedd y system.

Mae gan Cerrig Granite and Slate 22 o weithwyr sy’n arbenigo mewn technegau gwaith carreg o’r radd flaenaf, gwneud gwaith carreg ar gyfer gwestai, bwytai, llongau mordaith, swyddfeydd a siopau yn ogystal â cherrig beddi. Mae'r cwmni eisoes yn ailddefnyddio 95% o'i ddŵr gan ddefnyddio system ailgylchu dŵr cylchol ac mae wedi ymrwymo i leihau ei ôl troed carbon gyda buddsoddiad mewn peiriannau modern.

Dywedodd y Cyfarwyddwr Hugo Were: ‘Rydym yn gwneud popeth o fewn ein gallu i leihau ein hôl troed carbon drwy gyflwyno technoleg newydd a dadansoddi ein cadwyn gyflenwi. Mae’r buddsoddiad hwn mewn ynni adnewyddadwy yn golygu y byddwn yn awr yn gallu pweru hyd at 40% o’n gweithrediadau o ynni’r haul’.
