Electrical Supply Upgrade Project

For this recent project, we began with a comprehensive Electrical Inspection and Condition Report which included assessing the suitability of the existing single-phase electrical supply for the current load. With plans for a future solar installation and extension, we evaluated the system’s capacity to handle these additional demands. After careful analysis, we recommended upgrading the property to a three-phase supply for enhanced reliability and flexibility.

Here’s what we completed:

📄 Submitted an application to Manx Utilities for the supply upgrade

🛠️ Conducted on-site consultations with Manx Utilities Network Service Engineers

📅 Developed a project plan to minimize client downtime and inconvenience

⚡ Replaced the electrical distribution boards with new three-phase boards, designed to support future solar installation and extension

💡 Upgraded circuit breakers to modern RCBOs

⚡ Installed surge protection

📜 Provided a full Electrical Installation Test Certificate

A not so glamorous electrical installation. This is what I came across when carrying out an Electrical Inspection and Condition Report (EICR). This EICR was requested by a potential buyer of a Douglas apartment before deciding whether to put in an offer.

This house has a KNX installation which I completed about 13 years ago and when new owners recently took over the property I was asked to upgrade the touch panel in the kitchen. I, therefore, decided to provide an iPad installed into a great-looking on-wall frame from Basalte. I then installed a KNX ABB Busch Control Touch IP server that allows the owner to control the phone through the iPad and also from their phones, even when out of the house. A completed project of a refurbished bungalow in Ramsey. This was a complete rewire of the property and included relocating the meter and main consumer unit. Data cabling with a central patch panel and TV /Satellite cabling was also installed to provide a modern home.
