SOLAR & BATTERY ELECTRICIAN
Up to £40,000 including van. Local work in & around Reading.

My Company, Tethys Energy is looking for a qualified electrician with BS7671 and 1 years experience as a minimum. You will be helping us deliver solar photovoltaic (PV) battery & EV charger installations in and around Reading. The role includes the use of a van which you can use to get to and from work. We are a small, very friendly team that value investing in our installers. We provide training and there is opportunity for promotion for the right person. The role would suit someone who either has some experience in solar & battery installation, or someone who is currently working as an electrician and are looking to make the move into renewables.

What you will need:

• Valid UK driving licence
• 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations qualified
• Live within easy commute of Reading
• 1 years electrical experience

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with Tesla, Sigenergy, SolarEdge, Myenergi & GivEnergy PV and Battery products
• Level 3 Electrical Test and Inspection qualification
• Solar Photovoltaic qualification
• Electrical Energy Storage Systems qualification

A client had a recent rennovation project in Reading and we installed some Jinko solar panels using the GSE in-roof system. This design allows the solar panels to sit flush with the roof removing the need for a protective bird mesh and improving the overall aesthetic of the installation.

The client was having their entire property re-roofed as well as building an extension. With a rennovation project like this, we at Tethys Energy work in close co-operation with the client and the other tradespeople involved to ensure a smooth and complication free installation.

When the roofing material is being removed, it is usually easier and less expensive to install an in-roof solar panel system as opposed to re-roofing as usual and then retro-fitting an on-roof solar panel system to it. There are savings in terms of time and materials as less roof tiles, or in this case slates, are required to complete the rennovation.

The overall impact is a high output solar panel system that looks fantastic. This not only significantly reduces the client's energy bill, but prompts interest from neighbours who oftern comment on how good these systems look.

Another successful installation by Tethys Energy. We designed, installed and commissioned an additonal 49.3kWp of solar and 40.5kWh of battery storage on a dairy farm near Henley-on-Thames, which already had an existing 49.2kWp of solar installed a few years ago.

The client was able to get the cost for this project covered by the Farming Improvement Fund from the Rural Payments Agency.

Using 112 x Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. 440W solar panels with 2 x SolarEdge Technologies 3-phase inverters and 3 x Tesla Energy Powerwall 3 batteries. The system is already providing benefits to the client by now being able to store that generated energy and further reducing their electricity bill.

With any project like this, it is a team effort and I'd like to thank James Cooper, CEng MIET AEI, Kieran Harris, Joe Spencer, Windsor Solar and WrightSparks for all of their help. Also a big thank you to the farm operators who accommodated us for the duration of the project and our installation team who cracked on and kept themselves hydrated during some very hot weather.

Yesterday (20th May) was another very sunny day. Having a look at the 23 x Tesla Powerwalls we've installed on the Powerhub monitoring platform, 8 of which were installed this year, we were pleased to see the aggregate solar generation from all of those installations peak at 103.5kW at 1:30pm.

That's a great milestone for a small business such as ours ....and it's not even summer yet!!!
