Supporting charities and community organisations on their journey towards net zero is about more than reducing carbon emissions.

We were pleased to work with Woolwich Service Users Project (WSUP) , in collaboration with Baily Garner , to support the development of a practical decarbonisation strategy for its community facility.

The project highlighted the importance of taking a building-specific approach to decarbonisation — particularly when working with a Grade II listed building, where heritage, operational requirements and energy performance all need to be considered together.

It was also a great example of how collaboration can bring together complementary expertise to create practical, meaningful outcomes for community organisations.

France's law requires solar canopies covering at least 50% of outdoor parking lots over 1,500 m².

It generates large-scale clean solar power on existing parking lots without using any new land, while also shading cars. Britain does not have a similar nationwide mandate. The government considered requiring solar canopies on new car parks, but those plans were scrapped in 2026.

We're pleased to share that our technical briefing written by Alan MacLeod and Yashodhara Bose, "Timber Solar PV Carports: Reducing Emissions and Enabling Ultra-Fast EV Charging," has now been published online in the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Civil Engineering Emerald Insight journal.

Following our recognition as finalists in the British Construction & Infrastructure Awards, we were invited to contribute this briefing, sharing our research into how timber-based solar PV carports can support the transition to low-carbon transport infrastructure.

The article explores:

🌱 How glued laminated timber (GLT) structures can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 53% compared with conventional steel structures.

⚡ The integration of solar PV, battery storage and ultra-fast EV charging to create more resilient and efficient energy infrastructure.

🚗 How underutilised parking areas can be transformed into renewable energy assets while reducing pressure on the electricity grid.

As the transition to net zero accelerates, integrated infrastructure solutions will play an increasingly important role in delivering environmental, economic and operational benefits.

We recently enjoyed attending the Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) Cohort 5 Phase 1 Showcase & Graduation Event in Birmingham on 5th June. 🌍⚡

Many thanks to the University of Birmingham , HSBC and Energy Systems Catapult for the opportunity to be a part of such an exciting programme and present our EnergyBox™ low-carbon ground source heating innovation.

The support, mentorship and collaboration has been invaluable in helping us refine our EnergyBox heat pump concept, strengthening our commercialisation strategy and progressing the technical development of our scalable low-carbon heating solution for both homes and business community.

It was also good to connect with fellow innovators, investors, partners and stakeholders during the progra all working towards accelerating the transition to a net-zero future.

Despite the rainy weather, it was fantastic to be part of Dorking’s Big Swap • Switch • Share – The Big Celebration as part of Great Big Green Week 🌍⚡

A huge thank you to Circular Dorking 1 for the opportunity to exhibit and connect with so many members of the local community. It was great to engage in conversations around renewable energy, sustainability and the future of low-carbon technologies for homes and businesses.

From solar PV and EV charging to battery storage and community energy initiatives, we really enjoyed sharing the work we do at Pure energy (REGen) Limited and hearing about the community’s passion for creating a greener future.
