The Railway in Worthing was a long and tricky project comprising of a full refurbishment of the very dated bar and restaurant areas, as well as 37 bedrooms, but the results are fantastic.

Sadly this is not Fairland’s new offices but is one of the most interesting buildings we have worked on for a long time. The former hospital site at Papworth Everard was founded in 1918 as a TB ‘colony’ for returning First World War soldiers. The hospital is now a leading heart and lung facility and moved to new high tech premises a few years ago.

Fortunately the building has retained its fantastic facade and many period features such a original staircases, huge windows, light wells and ornate columns. Soon to be a specialist school it will provide a tranquil environment for Autistic children
