It’s been three years since the delivery of our monopile upending hinge to Boskalis, supporting its offshore wind installation operations on the US East Coast.

Installed on the Bokalift 2 crane vessel, the hinge works alongside the vessel’s crane to safely upend monopile foundations from their horizontal, stowed position through to vertical, ready for installation offshore.

Since then, the system has supported the installation of a significant number of monopile foundations, helping to support offshore wind construction in the growing US market.

It’s great to look back at a project that showcases what we do best at Osbit - understanding specific challenges and developing practical engineering solutions that perform when it matters most.

Our busy events calendar continues next week as we head to WindEnergy Hamburg!

With over 43,000 attendees expected, alongside hundreds of expert speakers, we’re looking forward to meeting with customers, partners and suppliers to explore the latest solutions for offshore wind energy.

We're delighted to have been awarded a new contract by up to design and build Crayfish, a next-generation shallow water trencher, further strengthening our long-standing partnership.

Building on the success of Swordfish, which has been operating successfully since 2022, this novel solution has been engineered for both land and subsea operations. Featuring a deep burial capability within a lightweight, modular design, it will support shallow water cable burial campaigns with enhanced flexibility and performance.

This project is a great example of what can be achieved through close collaboration, combined with engineering expertise to develop equipment that meets today's challenges while remaining adaptable for the future.

We're excited to deliver the trencher in late 2026 and seeing it support critical offshore infrastructure projects from early 2027.

We recently took part in some filming with Spark Northumberland at our Port of Blyth facility. It was a great opportunity to showcase a little of what we do at Osbit and introduce young people to the wide range of careers behind the engineering and technology we deliver.

Spark Northumberland is a fantastic initiative helping young people across the county discover the careers and opportunities that exist right here on their doorstep.

We know how important it is for young people to see what’s possible, and we’re proud to play our part in making those careers more visible and helping inspire the next generation of local talent.

We always enjoy a bit of friendly competition and earlier this week our team working in Singapore had a great time playing 7-a-side football with our colleagues at Baker Engineering Pte Ltd.

It's always great to come together for some sporting fun, get to know each other away from the workplace, and strengthen the relationships that are so important to successful project delivery.
