ATJFC Goats U12 # Hucknall reds
Everything was set up nicely for the Goats opening day of the season! The sun was shining, a full squad and we were back on the watchorn fortress...
From the off we controlled the pace of the game, we knocked on the door a few times but the opener came on the 15 minute mark when Harry swung in a corner for Alex to hammer home. A battle in the middle of the park commenced for a large part of the first half but the away team rallied for the final 5 minutes and couldn't break the solid back line of the Goats!
At the break we spoke about winning those first and second balls, getting some more shots away and having the confidence on the ball to make a difference!
After half time Hucknall threw everything at us but the lads defended brilliantly as a unit, then 5 minutes in we turned up the pace! Charlie struck to make it 2-0 and we were starting to cut Hucknall open time and time again and should of had a couple more. Nick in goal was never under threat and did the basics perfectly but It only ever looked like one team was going to win this one and Taylor put it to bed with 15 minutes left! A direct run off the wing, whipped around 2 players and calmly slotted home, 3-0!
A solid performance all over the park and a promising start to the season. Another step up in divisions and the Goats looked at home...
