Knocked off for the bank holiday weekend after popping in this morning to brush off yesterday’s stone work on the gables. We have to finish off the cut ups on the gables and fit the cils etc. then a break whilst the roof is completed, ready to drop back on and finish the rest of the extension, the chimney plus other bits.

Roof is being cut on, huge amount of steel and a massive amount of timber!

But starting to take shape and looking sharp now…..

🧱 Stockwell Lane – Cheltenham

Progress coming along nicely on our current project on Stockwell Lane. This is the second house we’ve been involved with on this road, which is always great to return to.

This is a very technical build, involving over 200m² of natural stone, with stone surrounds both internally and externally. The project also includes significant structural steelwork, including a large cantilever steel with 20+ pad stones, alongside a split-level design that brings multiple working heights and some very restricted access.

Projects like this definitely bring their challenges, but they’re the ones we enjoy the most. Looking forward to seeing this house come together — it will look stunning when complete.

Despite the challenges of the weather, certainly the wettest I can remember, we are progressing steadily.

Slight delay on the surrounds but plenty to do with fitting steels etc.

This build is tricky, lots to think about but nothing we can’t handle, it’s all coming together now and with the days getting longer, hopefully the rain eases…. Probably not!

It’s that time of year that as a business you have time to reflect on what has been going on in the previous year. A time to understand the rights and the wrongs.

This year has been a tough year for us, with increasing prices of materials and decreasing rates of labour on sites, it’s been a slog to say the least. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve been let down and realised that in this industry I’m just a number. But…. We crack on, we rebuild and graft harder!

I’ve laid off a few key people this year and it saddens me as the guys that I have had to let go, I have gotten to know on a personal level. All family men that I respect, I am forever grateful for everything you have done for the company over the years.

Here’s the twist…. As we go into 2026, we as a company will be moving into complete building works, from garden walls to extensions, to complete new build projects. We will be working closely with Jefferies Building Ltd. CA-Groundworks and other quality tradesmen that we have built strong relationships with over the years. With our knowledge and expertise we will be sure to build some beautiful homes and stunning spaces.

I tottered on the idea since building my first new build home from start to finish 3 years ago (see pics), now is the time to go at it full throttle.
