Nürburgring 2026.
As some will know we have been very quiet over the last couple of weeks/months. Reasons being trying to get our TX track ready, not only to drive the circuit for the very first time.. but to drive both ways from the UK the Germany in convoy. A lifelong dream for us to do, after completing multiple track days in various cars over the years. The longest journey we have every completed in this car since owning for the past 6 years.
7 days before the trip. We had multiple gearbox issues. fitting 3x gearbox's, running and testing. just with hopes to actually get the car there. on the last gearbox removal we damaged a clutch plate, causing clutch drag and a very concerning peddle feel. Simply running out of time to pull the box off again to replace components.
Now running a stock gearbox, we had to turn the power down in hopes to actually get the thing to survive. A real shame that we couldn't push the car to its full potential with fears of killing another stock f40 trans, and being potentially left stranded in Germany.
The mission was simple, get there, do 2 laps, get us home. We managed 6.
First lap we completely warped the new front disks. By the 4th lap all confidence was lost in keeping the car controlled for braking. and the decision was made to do a couple more laps, just for the experience, and keep out of the way.
A complete novice to the ring, showed. The level of cars flying round the ring was absolutely insane, and its fully understandable why its called "the green hell". An extremely humbling experience to say the least. And a lesson we have firmly learnt.
Was it worth it? every goddamn second! a group of 11 cars in convoy, all filled with idiots like myself. A week of pure laughter.
The TX has showed so much potential. But I think another track day or 2 to really push the car is in order to give justice to the build.
