Here at Oracle Precision, our machines have been busier than ever this week.

That means plenty of material being turned and milled as the machines work through another busy week on the shop floor.

From the first cut to the final component, there’s something pretty satisfying about the sound of a CNC machine doing what it does best.

Spindles turning. Coolant flowing. Chips flying.

This is the sound of a busy machine shop.

This morning, Shaun Palmer and Noah Monaghan from the Oracle Precision/Kaleidex Group team, attended the first DTEC Conference for the region.

Hosted at Rotherham College and The Wharncliffe, the event brought together businesses, education providers and regional partners to discuss the future of technical skills and the next generation of talent.

As a precision engineering business, we understand the importance of developing strong technical skills and creating opportunities for future talent. So it was great to share our experiences, hear different perspectives and explore how industry and education can work together to support the region’s workforce.

Next week Oracle Precision is heading to Medical Technology Ireland 2026 as part of the wider Kaleidex Group team. Taking place at Galway Racecourse on 23–24 September, the event brings together medical-device manufacturers, engineers, suppliers and innovators from across Ireland’s thriving MedTech sector.

Shaun Palmer will be there as a representative of Oracle Precision and Kaleidex Group, for us, it’s a chance to talk about the precision manufacturing capability we provide to medical-device businesses, from complex components and surgical instrumentation through to the investment we’re continuing to make in machining, automation and scalable production.

Our Mills CNC Limited/Doosan PUMA 2600SY has been making light work of a variety of jobs here at Oracle Precision.

From machining plastics to different types of metal, its versatility allows us to take on a wide range of components while maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect.

Offline programming through SolidCAM helps us maximise spindle uptime and optimise machining efficiency, while the integrated automatic bar feeder supports lights-out machining to increase productivity and help reduce lead times.

Manufactured by Oracle Precision, these Orange Acetal Cups are trial components used during acetabular surgery.

Produced from acetal, they are designed to support the trialling stage of the procedure, helping the surgical team assess fit and sizing before the final implant is introduced.

Their bright colour may make them visually distinctive, but their real value comes from the precision behind them. As with any trial component, dimensions, geometry, and consistency all matter when the purpose is to help inform the next step in a surgical procedure.

They are a good example of the range of medical components produced at Oracle Precision, where polymer machining sits alongside our wider precision manufacturing capabilities.

Because whether the finished component is metal or polymer, the requirement remains the same: make it accurately, consistently and for a clearly defined purpose.
