Cost rises on site…
Is it a meme?
Or is it a harsh reality? 😅

Truth is — it’s usually both.

Nobody likes hearing about potential cost increases at the start.
Most people would rather stick their head in the sand and hope everything goes perfectly.

But construction doesn’t work like that.

An existing wall might not be as stable as we thought.
Ground conditions might have their own surprise plans.
What looks simple on paper can behave very differently on site.

That’s why every project needs a level of tolerance — in budget, in programme, and in expectations.

And most importantly?
The right team on and off site.

Because surprises aren’t the problem.
How you manage them is.

POV: You start a “simple” renovation… and suddenly you’re emotionally attached to light switches, taps, and door handles.

Why am I debating brushed brass vs matte black like it’s a life decision? Why do I now have strong opinions about grout? WHO AM I? 😂

Renovation rule #1: You don’t buy things.
You research them.
You compare them.
You screenshot them.
You add them to basket.
You remove them from basket.
You question your existence.

But when it all comes together? Worth every single tile-induced breakdown. 🏡✨

Okay, serious video… don’t panic.

Finishes and tiles aren’t the exciting part of a renovation, until they delay your project by three weeks.

Moral of the story: listen to your contractor and always order extra tiles. One missing box can bring everything to a standstill.

Learn from my experience. I’ve earned it.

Back in Long Lane checking progress, capturing the real work behind the scenes…
with a little bit of chaos thrown in for good measure.

Big milestones ticked off, plastering complete, bathrooms taking shape, loft nearly finished and the staircase finally in 🙌

And an early exit for us once the plumbers decided we were officially in the way.

What a night ✨

We had the absolute pleasure of attending the Business Awards 2026 and being named finalists made it even more special 🏆

It was genuinely lovely to be in a room full of passionate hardworking business owners celebrating the ups the challenges and everything in between. Running a business can feel lonely at times so evenings like this really remind you why community matters 🤍
