Happy International Women's day, from Marie Walsh and I.

Thought it would be appropriate to do this post today, firstly to thank each and every customer we have had. Supporting our small family business over the past 30+ years.

And secondly, to inform you all that, we are no longer taking on any work. I have taken on a full time job and Marie is developing her embroidery business. Please support her in any way possible, sharing and thinking of her when you may need embroidered or printed clothing of any sort. Her business website can be found https://www.drifthilldesigns.co/

Thank you to each and every one of our friends who have shared our posts and recommended us. We cannot express how thankful we are.

On , I'm sure that dad would be very proud of us both.
May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.

All you need to help build your company's identity through embroidered and printed workwear and to develop team spirit with personalised teamwear.

Had a lovely, late in the season decking job. The original was rotten and dangerous.
Full customer led, smooth side up, shelves for her pots and trinkets and two posts to help them up the steps from the garden.

We are lucky enough to be part of the maintenance team at Greenfield Cricket Club. Some of things we have done the last couple of years... turfing, gate & bridge over the stream, new sponsors boards, installing many many benches, installing new flag pole, roofing and just about anything which is needed. Always a pleasure to work in such a stunning location.

With a baby on the way, this couple wanted to make better use of their garden in this lovely location. We extended both patios, widened the path. Created some privacy with the slatted fence and put up a picket fence to stop little legs having a wander into the stream.
Lovely job which definitely evolved as time went on.

For this garden the customer wanted a new fence and new sleepers. Boy were the old ones huge! All done in treated timber from Myers in Delph.
Thank you for your custom.

We had a big renovation project last year (which I forgot to post about πŸ™ˆ). Alongside the work, we also made some lovely friends πŸ₯°. We ripped a tired, but well used kitchen to make a kitchen diner and much more useable space.
We created a utility room from a very unusable room which was damp and very cold.
We swapped out a huge bathroom and created a new one in a different place by putting up a wall and therefore gaining another bedroom. New fire doors, decorating etc etc.
Ie complete renovation whilst this lovely family were still loving there.
Not to mention creating a disabled access at the side of the house.
Phew, think that's it! Thanks so much for the work Ellie and Liz. We really appreciate it. X

Reflecting on 2023. Marie and I would like to thank all our customers past, present and future. We are very grateful for every job we get. It's three years since we lost Dad. And although our jobs are much smaller now, us ladies are still bossing it πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ. We hope and pray we can get started on mums house this year, which we are both excited to get our teeth into. In the meantime we have availability in the new year for bathrooms, kitchens, decorating, landscaping etc etc. Please share for us. And thank you again. All the best for the new year from us.

I've already posted about this lovely customer. Asked to go and price for putting a lintel in. Ended up staying for months. Removed the unlevel patio area, new stone flags down to the back gate and up the side of the house. Removed the tiny patio area outside the patio doors and made it much more useable area in decking. Steps down to a huge decked area for this lovely sun trap of a garden. We also did their garden fence, bin store area, popped a window in the gable for the kitchen and put some new garden doors and gates on. Not the mention the stuff we did inside before they moved in. Thanks so much Kathryn and Brian. We really appreciate the work.

Over the last couple of weeks in this heat, we have been very fortunate to work in this lovely shady garden (we are not good working in this heat!). A simple pointing job, is never a simple pointing job. I think we relaid more than 90% of these flags. Maybe half a dozen ton bags of sand. Couple of skips with the cement we had to clear to get a decent bed on them. For info, half inch or cement and no pointing won't keep flags down for long πŸ™„.
We may take longer with these jobs, but we make sure it's properly done.

Only right to do a post on .
For those of you who don't know, D.P. Shephard Ltd was originally set up by our dad 30+ years ago and for 20+ years myself (Sally Shephard) and my sister, Marie Walsh have been building. Dad died just over 2 years ago and we have run the business fully since. And its just us. We get plasterers and electricians in, but we do everything else ourselves πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ. We love what we do and of course we have come across men and women making comments to us, but honestly it's few and far between and we don't care. We have a rant and then laugh about it. Always makes a good conversation. (Especially the one where I laughed in a blokes face when he tried to give me his business card, following him making sexiest commentsπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚).
Our next big project is building a house for our mum. Can't wait to get stuck into that. Just hope the weather warms up a bit! Happy International Women's Day. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘·β€β™€οΈπŸ‘Έ

We were asked to go and quote at the job and ended up staying for loads of different others. I'll post more on them later.
The first one was to take this window and door away to open up this kitchen and living area. Once we had put the steel in, I suggested a window in the gable at the end maybe beneficial for light, so we did that too. The end result makes such a difference. Thank you Kathryn and Brian, your custom this year has been amazing. Super customers too 😊
