As the year draws to a close, I just wanted to say thank you. It’s been a really busy year, full of positive achievements, and some challenges (because it wouldn’t be planning without them)! It has been a genuine pleasure working with both long-standing clients and new faces this year, and I’m grateful for the trust, collaboration and good humour along the way. Planning can be tough at times, but this year has been a fun one and I’m so pleased to have helped people achieve their dreams - whether a new home or supporting a business as it grows and develops.
Here’s to celebrating a successful year and looking ahead to 2026! Happy New Year to all! 🥂

Friday thought… I find it can be a bit of an isolating profession when you’re a self-employed planner… a lot of time spent in the office, pondering planning history and the depths of permitted development rights! More often than not, it’s the face to face meetings and site visits that make this much more than a job - always interesting, never the same, often a challenge - but rewarding all the same.

Wishing everyone a lovely festive season, particularly to all those that I’ve worked with this year. 2024 has been a brilliant year for JS Planning Studio, with interesting projects and as always, lovely to be able to assist people move forward with their planning goals - whether new forever family homes, preserving heritage buildings or providing awesome places to work - we’ve had it all this year!

It was lovely to return after a break over the summer to obtain planning approval for this beautifully sympathetic scheme. It replaces a redundant barn with a new family home that replicates an agricultural vibe with hidden internal courtyard, maximising sun, views and outlook. Beautiful materials and native landscaping with lots of space for nature, integrated garden and entertaining areas that make the most of the site and its surroundings. Looking forward to seeing this come to life! A tricky site to get right and great to receive LPA support… congratulations to Ben MOR architecture for brilliant creative design vision and eye for detail!

Surprisingly, reviewing the requirements of conditions in respect to this awesome approved scheme is giving me much needed warmth on this dreary evening! Making the most of the inclement weather and cracking on with a review of waterwheel manufacturers and how we can get this amazing conversion project off the ground, to safeguard a beautiful historic mill and provide a beautiful family home! Projects like these makes being a planner so worthwhile! Always epic to work with MOR architecture too! Can’t wait to see this one coming together!
