We were delighted to host Gordon Nelson, Scotland Director of the Federation of Master Builders for a few hours during a recent visit to Shetland. We visited a couple of our current projects including the Easthouse Croft House in Burra where we have been undertaking works to protect the thatch roof with a temporary roof structure designed by Malcolmsons Architects.

Our Apprentice Joe is running the Edinburgh half marathon this weekend in memory of his late uncle Colin Angus, he is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, if anyone would like to add to his fundraising, the link is in Shetland News's post below.

Teenager Joe Smith is set to take on the Edinburgh half-marathon this weekend in memory of his late uncle, Colin Angus.

Joe is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, with over £1,000 raised so far.

The men are on the boat tonight for their last away game of the season as they take on Caithness!

A project we have recently completed to combine separate kitchen and dining rooms into a large open space kitchen/diner.

This project involved significant structural alterations, this required us to support the upper floors and stone walls whilst we removed the existing lower stone walls. We then installed new structural steel beams to open up and combine the rooms to give our client a large airy space.

Alongside this we also carried out retrofit installation works to a large portion of the house ensuring our client has a warmer home and peace of mind they will have significantly reduced heating bills.

As promised here is a special project we were working on throughout 2025!

Duncan's parents bought The Seachest and it needed some serious work....

The house was in a terrible condition but with hard work through the days, nights and weekends, what a transformation it has been.

Just goes to show with some foresight, hard work, determination and patience you can turn any building into a beautiful, warm, welcoming home.
