I am a hobbyist blacksmith who likes to spend my spare time in my garden shed forging functional steel products and unique pieces of art by using traditional and modern techniques.

Here we have a nice traditional pair of Andirons, also known as fire dogs. I've been wanting to make some for a while, but we haven't got a fireplace. But as I've got a few historical shows coming up, I thought it might be nice to practice a few of the traditional forging skills which don't get used a lot.

I'll also be joining Mayfield's Mayfair this Saturday (9th), so if anybody is going to that, please come and say hi!

A couple more traditional and historical pieces for my upcoming victorian event. A pair of door handles with a twist down the middle, and a trammel hook, which as you can see, can be adjusted to whatever hight you want.

I'm half way through my next project which is a little bigger, so that should be done in the next few weeks!

On my last post I asked if anybody had any suggestions for things I should make for a victorian themed event I've been invited to. Thanks to Hannah for suggesting door knockers!

It's not very often I do traditional stuff, so it's not as clean as I'd like it to be, but it works. I also thought it would be cool to make some sheep shears. These were made out of one piece of 3mm sheet.

I've been invited to join in another event over at Newhaven Fort in May (16th -17th). This time it will be victorian themed, so I need to make a few more historical items.

So far, I've made one rush light holder, and two miners candlesticks. I plan on making a few more rush light holders with some different but still historical designs.

I'll make some hooks and nails, but apart from that I don't really know anything about victorian history, so if anybody has got any ideas of other things I should make, please let me know in the comments!

The lovely people at Newhaven Fort have invited me back to join in with their 'Focus on the forties' event in june. So I'm currently using parts of an old workbench to make a few of these little pots.

Also welcome to my new followers! In 3 months the number of followers has gone from 3000 to 5000! So thanks to you all!

I'm very surprised at the amount of attention my last post received, and how many new followers I'm gaining. Thanks everybody, and a very warm welcome to my new followers!

I've recently been playing around with this double bend idea, I don't think I've seen it before, but I feel like it's a simple enough idea that somebody must have thought of before me. This was just a little test piece to see how easy it would be to assemble, it was a little bit of a challenge, but not too bad. This piece will sit in the garden to rust, but keep an eye out for future projects that feature this idea!

Its been almost two years since my last candle holder, and as it's been a while since I've done any proper forging, I thought I'd do another one. So here is number 21 of the series.

Hello everybody, thanks for getting my page to 3000 followers! This page is almost 10 years old, so should I make something nice for it's anniversary? What should it be?

And speaking of anniversarys, this garden windmill that I've been working on is a recent 30 year wedding anniversary gift. It was nice to see it up and spinning.

This weekend (21st -22nd june) at Newhaven Fort there is a 1940s WW2 themed event where there will be military reenactment, military vehicles, live music and crafts. It's open both days from 10am - 5pm. I'll be there showing some of my work, so please come and say hello if you are going!
