It’s the small details that make a big difference.

External connection sockets provide a straightforward way to connect equipment, helping simplify installation, testing and maintenance without unnecessary hassle. They’re particularly useful in critical environments such as hospitals, data centres and industrial sites, where quick, reliable access to temporary power is essential.

It’s these practical details that make a generator system work better for the people using it.

How long does your generator need to run?

A 24-hour fuel tank might be enough for one project. For another, 48 or 72+ hours of autonomy could be essential.

We supply generator systems with fuel solutions designed around your project requirements, including external fuel tanks for longer runtimes.

Because when the mains goes down, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of fuel.

Planning a new project? When should you start thinking about the generator?

If your project needs standby power, leaving the generator until the final stages can create unnecessary pressure.

Generator size, fuel storage, ventilation, noise, access, ATS, switchgear and installation requirements all need to work together.

The earlier these are considered, the easier it is to get the right solution in place.

Is your generator prepared?

Starting is one thing. Proving it can perform under load is another.

Our 1MW loadbanks allow generators to be tested under controlled conditions, helping identify issues before they become a problem.

Ideal for commissioning, maintenance and performance testing of critical power systems.

Generator noise is often measured in dBA at 1 metre, but what does that actually mean?

As a general guide:

- 100+ dBA – Open generator set
- 80–90 dBA – Standard canopied generator
- 70–80 dBA – Low-noise / supersilent specification
- Around 60–70 dBA – Highly noise-sensitive applications

The required noise level can depend heavily on where the generator is being installed.

A generator located on an industrial site may have very different acoustic requirements to one installed near residential properties, hospitals, offices or other occupied buildings.

At Lance Power, we can specify supersilent generator sets and bespoke acoustic solutions around the requirements of the project.

The YESSS Blackpool Trade Day was a great opportunity for the Lance Power team to get out, meet customers and connect with some great people across the industry.

It was great to have conversations around generators, UPS systems, load banks and backup power solutions, as well as hearing more about the projects and requirements businesses are working on.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us, and to the YESSS Electrical team for putting on a great event.

We’re looking forward to continuing the conversations and supporting our customers with their upcoming power requirements.

Powering critical healthcare infrastructure, wherever the project takes us.

We recently supplied a 150kVA Baudouin generator to support an NHS MRI scanner at Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway.

Supplied through YESSS Electrical, the super-silent generator delivers just 70dBA @ 1m and was specified with features including:

• Motorised fuel valve
• External cable connection box for easy connection to the existing infrastructure
• Temporary generator provision while works were being completed

Located on a remote Scottish island, this project demonstrates that distance doesn’t have to be a barrier when it comes to reliable power.

From local electrical contractors to projects in remote parts of the UK, Lance Power can supply and support generator requirements wherever they are needed.

When the power goes out, some lifts simply can't afford to.

High-rise residential buildings can rely on firefighting and evacuation lifts as part of their fire safety strategy.

For these critical systems, maintaining power during an emergency is essential. Government guidance refers to the use of an independent secondary power supply, such as a generator, for relevant high-rise applications, with BS 8519 providing recommendations for secondary power supplies.

We supply standby generators for residential developments where reliable emergency power is critical to keeping essential systems operational when mains power fails.

Because backup power isn't always about keeping the lights on. Sometimes, it's about keeping people safe.
