It's been another busy week at Cutting Edge Joinery & Building! 👌

This week I've completed:

🔨 A bespoke utility cupboard to neatly conceal the electric meter and consumer unit while keeping everything fully accessible with shaker-style doors.

🚪 A set of heavy-duty bespoke timber driveway gates, complete with adjustable hinges, spring-loaded support wheels and black ironmongery for a strong, traditional finish.

I really enjoy working on a wide range of projects, from bespoke joinery inside the home to exterior timber work. Every job is built to suit the customer and finished to a high standard.

Another project completed by Cutting Edge Joinery & Building!

A stunning engineered oak herringbone floor, expertly fitted and finished to bring out the natural beauty of the timber, alongside matching solid oak internal doors with black ironmongery.

Getting the herringbone pattern to flow cleanly through the entrance and doorways takes time and precision, but the finished result is well worth it. The natural oak tones have completely transformed this entrance hallway into a bright, welcoming space.
The final section of skirting will be fitted once the new radiator has been installed, but it's already looking fantastic.

🔨 Conservatory Roof Conversion – Stage 1 Nearly Complete 🔨

We've almost finished the first stage of this conservatory roof transformation.

The old roof has been removed and replaced with a brand-new timber roof structure, complete with new fascia, soffits, guttering and gable ends ready for the lightweight tiled roof system.

✅ Existing roof removed
✅ New timber roof structure installed
✅ New gable ends clad in white UPVC shiplap
✅ New fascia, soffits & guttering fitted
✅ Internal ceiling structure completed
✅ Ready for insulation and lightweight tiled roof covering

Just a couple of finishing touches left on the fascia joints and the exterior is complete.

This upgrade will completely transform the conservatory, making it warmer in winter, cooler in summer and far more usable all year round.

A couple of bespoke fitted furniture projects completed this week 👌

First up was this alcove unit, built to mirror the original built-in cupboard on the opposite side of the room while keeping everything in character with the property. The customer wanted a more open layout, so instead of the original centre cupboard design I built open shelving with hidden storage cupboards top and bottom 🙂

The second project was a set of fitted birch ply wardrobes. The customer already had a pair of IKEA wardrobes that worked well internally, but wanted them transforming into something that looked fully fitted and bespoke.

I made a complete set of new birch ply doors, matching fillers and end panels, along with overhead cupboards to take everything right up to the ceiling for a clean built-in look. The birch ply grain on this one came out beautifully 👌

Really enjoyed these two projects — both completely different styles but both designed to maximise storage while looking like they’ve always belonged in the room.

Been a busy couple of weeks at Cutting Edge Joinery & Building 🔨

A mix of joinery, storage solutions and roofing work completed recently:

• Full replacement garage roof using a new EPDM rubber roofing system for a long-lasting, low maintenance finish.
• Bespoke utility room unit built around the washing machine with matching boiler cupboard doors to keep everything neat and hidden away.
• A completely unique under-handrail display cabinet made specially for a Hot Wheels collection 🚗
• Another bespoke alcove unit and floating shelf completed in MR MDF ready for decorating.
• Finished off with the replacement of an internal door to better suit the space and let more light through.

Always appreciate the variety of work and the trust customers put in me to build something made specifically for their homes 👍

Ever seen a 500-year-old door still in use? 👀

Just finished this one locally and it was a proper interesting job…

• Installed a solid oak frame around an original door from Cawood Castle

• Rebuilt the hallway step and added a new oak step

• Completely rebuilt an old servants staircase using the original oak beams

The staircase was the biggest part — structure was still there, but everything else needed reworking. Had to make a new open stringer for the final section as the original was beyond saving.
Blended it all back in with clean finishes so it still suits the age of the house 👍

Love jobs like this — keeping the character but making it actually usable again.

Full custom setup on this one to make the most of every bit of space in the room.

All built from moisture resistant MDF and made on site for a perfect fit.

This is the kind of setup that gives you loads of storage without cluttering the room — everything built in, clean lines, and made to suit the space exactly 👍

Once it’s all prepped and sprayed it’s going to look spot on.

Full kitchen & utility transformation completed 🔥

The client had already removed the old kitchen, so this was a full install from a blank space — reworking the layout to make it more practical and modern.

✔️ New kitchen fitted
✔️ Utility area built and finished
✔️ New flooring throughout
✔️ Skirting boards replaced
✔️ Worktops, appliances & all finishing details installed

Nice clean finish on this one with plenty of worktop space and a much better flow through into the living area.
