Tigers take gold from Garforth
Tigers u9 Blacks travelled to Garforth to play a rearranged league fixture against Garforth Villa Gold. The pitch was on a slope which made the first half of the game hard work for the young tigers. The pitch was also sticky which didn’t help either team. The first 15 minutes was a battle in the middle of the park which nobody really took hold of. The next 15 minutes the tigers started to work the ball around and created more opportunities which was evident when Filip played a sublime ball across the field towards the edge of the box for Kian to fire past the helpless keeper. This was a goal that was deserved as the tigers started to take command. The tigers keepers, Jacob and Sam were rarely called into action but their positioning and communication was clear to see and a massive positive for the coaches.
The tigers started to take control as the game wore on and this was clear when Filip scored two goals in quick succession with the first being a fantastic finish into the top corner from the edge of the box. Garforth got a goal back but the tigers rarely looked troubled. This was build in the solid foundation at the back with Ollie and Alfie forming a brilliant partnership and becoming two brilliant defenders.
Midfielders Toby, Kian, Filip, Josh and JT worked hard to gain control of the game and that allowed the team to progress higher up the pitch. The work that these lads got through was fantastic. They were physical, moved the ball and made it hard work for Garforth. JT topped off a good performance with a finish to make the game safe towards the end.
Adrijus and Kuba played well up front holding the ball up and creating chances on a tough pitch. Adrijus coming really close to getting a goal from a good cross and firing narrowly wide.
Player of the match was Kian for a fantastic individual perfomance in midfield.
The coaches would like to thank the parents for travelling again and their continued support. We would also like to thank Francesca and Dan from TSS Homes for sponsoring our kit.
