LEGIONELLA FOUND. SYSTEM TRANSFORMED 🦠

This private leisure centre in Shooter’s Hill had a serious issue with its hot water system - Legionella had been found within the water system supplying the showers, as well as the sauna and steam room.

Following a full inspection of the plant room, it was clear the existing system was outdated and had multiple issues that were contributing to the conditions in which the bacteria could grow.

We completely transformed the plant room, installing a new system including:
🔹New high-efficiency boiler 🔹Low loss header 🔹Plate heat exchanger 🔹 Pumped hot water storage system 🔹 Local temperature mixing valves to all outlets 🔹 Dedicated hot water return system

The new pumped system delivers 3 bar of instantaneous hot water, providing powerful showers across the facility; even when multiple outlets are being used at the same time.

The local temperature mixing valves also help minimise the risk associated with Legionella, while the hot water return significantly reduces draw-off times, meaning hot water reaches the outlets quickly.

Another successful job completed by our gas engineering team in Reading. The existing pump had seized, so we attended site, removed the old unit and fitted a new replacement pump to get the system back up and running reliably.

Leaking Boiler – Diagnosed & Repaired

Another boiler leak successfully diagnosed and resolved for our customer.

On inspection, we traced the leak back to a failed / leaking flow sensor. Fortunately, we had the correct replacement part already in the van, allowing us to carry out the repair there and then.

The faulty flow sensor was replaced, the system was checked for any further leaks, and the boiler was tested to ensure everything was operating correctly.

These photos show a poorly soldered fitting that had failed under the floor. We carefully removed the faulty section, re-piped the radiator and carried out the necessary repairs to get everything back up and running.

It’s a good reminder that even hidden pipework needs to be installed correctly. A poor joint can eventually fail and cause significant water damage.

Another shower transformation completed, creating a fresh, modern space to enjoy. The old shower cubicle had started leaking. Once removed, we repaired and installed new pipework neatly into the wall, before fitting a new shower enclosure with a pivot door.

To finish it off, we used Aqua Boards to cover the gap where the existing tiles ended. Rather than trying to hide it, we turned it into a feature; giving the new shower a clean, modern finish.

A leaking shower can quickly become a bigger problem, so if yours is showing signs of a leak, do not leave it until the damage gets worse.

🚿Intermittent hot water? We've got you covered

Our customer was experiencing intermittent hot water, so we carried out a full inspection and identified the culprit - a heavily scaled and blocked plate heat exchanger.

After removing the plate heat exchanger, we gave it a thorough clean, removing all the built up scale and debris. Once refitted, the system was back to working exactly as it should, with reliable hot water restored.
