🔷 Reducing Pb-212 QC from hours to minutes 🔷

☢️ The growing development of Alpha Radioligand Therapies using Pb-212 and its alpha-emitting daughter Bi-212 is creating new demands for fast, reliable Quality Controls. With a half-life of approximately 10.6 hours, Pb-212 presents unique analytical challenges, making efficiency a critical factor during the development and manufacturing process.

⏩ Traditional fraction collection has long been used for radio-HPLC analysis, but many laboratories are now adopting in-line radioactivity detection using our Spec-RAM LC to accelerate batch release.

⏱️ This provides real-time in-line radioactivity detection directly from the HPLC system, eliminating the need for fraction collection and subsequent gamma counting. Instead of waiting hours for results, users can obtain a complete chromatogram within minutes of the run finishing.

🗑️ In addition to reducing analysis time, in-line detection is proving much safer. Conventional fraction collection requires the manual handling and capping of multiple vials containing radioactive material, all of which must be counted, stored, and ultimately disposed of, increasing the risk of contamination, spills, and unnecessary exposure.

🔷 As alpha therapies continue to progress, radiopharmacies need quick, accurate tools for QC. A new zinc sulphide (ZnS) detector is now available for our Scan-RAM 2 radio-TLC scanner, providing a highly sensitive solution for radiolabelling yield measurements for alpha therapies such as Ac-225-PSMA, offering total alpha detection.

☢️ Because of the short distance over which alpha particles deposit their energy, they generate a large number of scintillation photons when interacting with the ZnS to produce strong pulses that are easy to count. This characteristic makes ZnS detectors significantly more sensitive to alpha radiation than to beta or gamma emissions, reducing background interference and improving the accuracy of gross alpha measurements.

📅 Last Friday, our team stepped away from desks and headed to Sheffield Hallam University for a fantastic company away day.

🚀 People from across the LabLogic Group attended and spoke on where the businesses are heading as we enter a period of internal change as well as moving forward to meet new advancements in radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine.

🗼 In the afternoon, we had a brilliant talk from Richard McCann on overcoming challenges followed by some team building inspired by the Traitors, which saw some questionable Eiffel Towers built from paper, making it difficult to know who was deliberately sabotaging the challenge and who genuinely thought they were helping.

🏆 We also presented several awards to staff who have demonstrated LabLogic’s core values over the past year, recognising their contributions and making our workplace a positive one to be in.

🔶 Important announcement regarding updated leadership structure as LabLogic enters its next phase of growth and development 🔶

Adam Anthony Brown has been appointed Managing Director, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the business.

As part of the transition, Richard Brown will become Chairman after 26 years as Managing Director, while John Clapham will continue supporting the company in his role as Founder. The changes reflect a planned succession process that combines continuity, experience, and fresh perspectives, positioning LabLogic strongly for the future.

Having spent 13 years with the company in leadership roles spanning marketing, sales, and operations, Adam has played a key role in LabLogic's growth and development. His appointment forms part of a wider leadership structure designed to support the company's long-term ambitions.

John said, "A successful business is one that continually evolves and prepares for the future. This transition reflects the strength of leadership within LabLogic and gives me great confidence in the company's continued success. The combination of experience, stability, and new ideas provides a strong platform for the years ahead."

🛠️ LabLogic has successfully installed and validated an advanced PET/QC package at the cyclotron facility of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of nuclear medicine in Cyprus.

💊 The cyclotron itself is operated by BIOKOSMOS, which is responsible for the production of radiopharmaceuticals labelled with F-18 in accordance with the European Pharmacopoeia for PET imaging.

✅ LabLogic’s instrumentation and software will be used to support full release testing of these critical diagnostic products, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice and regulatory standards.
