In the highly regulated nuclear sector, ‘collaboration' isn't just a buzzword, it's the key to reducing risk, shortening lead times, and delivering reliable engineering outcomes.

We recently partnered with RED Engineering to support their engineering-led trials for a complex remote handling challenge. By deploying one of our Penny PH Cranes, RED were able to set up trial environments efficiently, de-risk their testing process, and gather actionable data for their final solution delivery.

At Penny Engineering, we strongly believe in UK-manufactured technology within nuclear applications. It lowers deployment costs, reduces project lead times, and gives engineering teams the confidence they need before going trackside or into active environments.

950 Miles for Charity! 🚀🚗

Shoutout to Sde Group, who are taking on the Bangers and Cash UK Rally this September 17th–21st! 🏁🗺️

They’ll be driving 950 miles from Chesterfield to Whitby via the Scottish Highlands in a custom banger car to raise at least £2,500 for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK, Ashgate Hospice and Hugs Childrens Cancer Charity.

🟠 CASE STUDY - Nuclear Restoration Services 🟠

When Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) required a complete, end-to-end material handling solution, our specialist division, Penny Nuclear, were appointed.

The project required the design and installation of two bespoke gantry cranes for a new facility – each built to meet the safety and space constraints of a complex nuclear environment.

Penny Nuclear provided a complete service: from design and manufacture through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.

CASE STUDY: We recently partnered with Angloco, a vehicle body-builder in Malvern, who specialise in firefighting and rescue vehicles.

They tasked us with providing 5 LoadLifts to load heavy outboard motors into MAN TGE panel vans, which they were converting into rapid-response flood rescue vehicles.

🟠 Challenge: The outboard motor originally arrived with its own factory trolley. However, it was too high to fit inside the van.

🟠 Our Solution: Our design team engineered a brand-new, bespoke trolley tailored perfectly to the outboard motor. This allowed the motor to be securely strapped directly to the LoadLift for rapid, safe trackside unloading during time-critical emergency deployments.

The team at Angloco loved the trolleys so much that they've already returned to Penny to help with their next project!

We recently completed a lovely installation of a CellarLift in a newly refurbished cellar over in Chiswick, London! 🇬🇧🦾

For years, the manager had to manually drop 22-gallon barrels onto a drop mat - risking damage to the premises, creating a significant safety hazard and even (heaven forbid!) damage to the precious beer. Now? The process is safe, easy, and incredibly quick.

This custom lift features specialised forks to safely transport heavy barrels in and out of the cellar, plus a removable case tray to easily handle boxes and cases of stock. Needless to say, the manager was absolutely delighted with the upgrade! 🎉📦

Mentoring the Next Generation 🛠️

Recently, we welcomed Alex from Netherthorpe School for a packed week on our workshop floor.

At Penny Engineering, our Engineering value is about inspiring curiosity, nurturing talent and creating opportunities for the next generation to experience engineering excellence.

A lot of preparation goes into a great work experience, from organising safety inductions in PPE and manual handling, to setting up a multi-department schedule so students get a broad look at engineering.

Alex absolutely smashed it, learning CAD, CNC machining, and welding.
