Being strong doesn’t mean staying silent.

Mental health remains a serious issue within construction, and the statistics are difficult to ignore.

ONS data has previously shown that men working in building finishing trades, including plasterers, painters and decorators, experienced a significantly higher risk of su***de than the male national average.

But behind every statistic is a person.

A colleague. A mate. A dad. A son. A partner.

It’s why checking in matters.

Not just when somebody visibly looks like they’re struggling but during the normal working day. On site, in the van, over a brew or after a difficult week.

We believe looking after the people around us matters just as much as the work we deliver.

There is support available, including through The Lighthouse Charity and Mind.

Sometimes a simple conversation can be the place it starts.
