A considered space.
Quietly demonstrating the future of low-carbon living.
We have carefully reimagined a former industrial unit within the Old Yarn Mills, transforming it into a contemporary renewables showroom — a considered, working example of low-carbon heating in practice.
Opened in April 2024, the space reflects what is possible when existing commercial buildings are thoughtfully retrofitted for a more sustainable future. A new mezzanine level has been introduced to house Somervilles Ltd - Plumbing & Heating Services, our sister plumbing and heating company, creating a shared environment that brings design, installation and expertise together under one roof.
Once reliant on gas, the building now operates through an integrated system of solar PV and a Daikin heat pump and hot water solution, complemented by underfloor heating throughout. Together, these technologies work in quiet harmony — not as a concept, but as part of everyday life.
Sustainability is embedded within the fabric of the site itself. Our offices are heated via a Daikin heat pump, with a Daikin hot water cylinder providing hot water, while rooftop solar generation reduces reliance on the grid — at times allowing the building to operate entirely on its own renewable energy.
We created this space to offer a more tangible understanding of low-carbon living — a place where homeowners and the wider business community in Sherborne can experience what the future looks and feels like.
