🔩 From Fasteners to Prison Guards and Cons… for One Day Only! 🚔
Yesterday, some of the team swapped high-strength bolting for high-security as we headed to Shrewsbury Prison for our annual team building day.
A huge thank you to the fantastic ex-prison officer guides, Malcolm and Michelle, for sharing their experiences and giving us a fascinating insight into life behind the prison walls in an access all areas tour of the prison.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the “Cons vs Screws” challenge, where one team had to hide contraband in their cells, while the prison officers attempted to uncover it. Safe to say… the Cons came out on top! The Screws managed to find a pool ball hidden in a sock, a bar of soap (which, as it turns out, isn’t contraband!) and “drugs” concealed in a book… only to discover it was a peppermint teabag. 🤦♂️😂
After escaping the prison (legally!), we rounded off the day with lunch at Hickory’s, giving everyone the chance to relax, laugh and spend time together away from the office.
We’re definitely better at manufacturing precision bolting and fasteners than we are at being prison guards… although, judging by some of the hiding places, a few of our team would probably cope surprisingly well if they ever found themselves on the other side of the bars! 😅
Days like these are a great reminder that a strong team isn’t just built in the workplace. It’s built through shared experiences, plenty of laughs, and getting to know one another outside of the day job.
