Choosing the right design and placement is key. Whether fixed or retractable, systems can be integrated with ventilation or combined with adjustable blinds to improve comfort and energy efficiency.

Enjoy your garden, patio, or balcony in all seasons with the right shading solutions.

The World Cup starts today, so naturally we did what any sensible British company would do and organised fish and chips for everyone.

Today, Harry's Fish & Chips rolled into Tropical Towers and treated the team to lunch. Despite the weather doing its best impression of November, spirits remained high, the queue was constant and not a single portion appeared to go to waste.

To be fair, eating fish and chips from a cardboard box while standing in a rainy car park is about as British as it gets. The only thing missing was someone insisting it would "brighten up later".

A big thank you to Harry's Fish & Chips for keeping everyone fed and helping us kick off the World Cup in style.

Now the real debate begins. Not who wins the tournament, but whether mushy peas belong anywhere near fish and chips.

The latest Climate Change Committee report makes it clear that managing cooling is now just as important as heating.

The latest Climate Change Committee report makes it clear that managing cooling is now just as important as heating.

Overheating is not just uncomfortable; it affects productivity, well-being, and energy use. Proper shading can help reduce solar gain, lower cooling demand and keep indoor spaces more comfortable without relying solely on energy-intensive systems.

Are we designing buildings to manage heat from the start or only reacting once it becomes a problem?

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄...
We always knew our Marketing Manager, Tian, had plenty to say. Now it's been published.

Tian recently answered a series of questions from Openings magazine covering marketing, branding, social media, the shading industry and a few subjects that weren't quite on the original agenda. Somewhere along the way, the discussion also found room for Marmite, pizza, the 1966 World Cup Final and an unexpected encounter with Little Mix fans.

The latest issue is packed with industry news, features and insight and has probably landed on your desk by now. We're pleased to see a familiar face representing Tropical amongst its pages, so grab a brew, have a flick through and, if you get the chance, let us know what you think.

We're not saying it's the most entertaining interview in the magazine, but it is almost certainly the only one that includes a discussion about crumpets topped with Marmite and cheese.

And if a colleague has borrowed your copy of Openings and forgotten to give it back, you can read the digital edition here:

Just don't encourage him too much. One magazine interview and he'll be expecting his own podcast.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

As Child Safety Week draws to a close, it's a timely reminder that creating a safer home often comes down to the small things. The conversations we have during a survey. The questions we ask. The recommendations we make. The details we notice.

As installers, we're trusted to help customers make the right choices for their homes and families. That responsibility goes beyond simply fitting a product. We've taken a closer look at the role installers play in helping create safer homes in our latest article.

Read it here:

We're proud to support the wider industry's commitment to safer homes and responsible installation practices alongside the and its members.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤: 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞

Most homeowners choose blinds and shutters because they look great, provide privacy and help control light throughout the home. What many don't realise is that window coverings can also play an important role in creating safer living spaces for young children.

As Child Safety Week continues across the UK, it's a timely reminder that safety isn't just about the products we install. It's about the advice we give, the questions we ask and the conversations we have with our customers.

For retailers and installers, that might mean discussing the safest product options for a particular room, ensuring child safety devices are fitted correctly, or simply taking a few extra minutes to explain how they work. Small actions can make a big difference.

At Tropical, we're proud to support a trade industry that takes these responsibilities seriously. Whether it's shutters, motorised solutions, Clic blinds or correctly installed child safety devices, every safe installation starts with good advice and professional expertise.

Because sometimes the most important thing we install isn't a blind or a shutter. It's peace of mind.
