On this flood defence site, the previously installed steel access plates which were used to securely stow away flood defence doors had deformed. Given that ease of access during emergency flood events was of critical importance, the site approached Fibrelite for a long-term retrofit replacement.

The Fibrelite Technical team custom designed and manufactured a retrofit replacement GRP composite trench access covering solution which fit directly into the existing aperture and restraining bolts to secure the barriers from unauthorised access.

Some stunning photos from Antigua port! A busy, highly trafficked area, with many underground utilities which must be covered while easily accessible. Fibrelite provided a GRP composite trench covering solution strong enough to withstand container carrying vehicles, the corrosive environment (saltwater, fuel) and all weather conditions, while light enough to remove manually.

To cope with higher demand and increasingly larger container ships, the Port of Gdańsk invested in the extension and modernisation of the Oliwskie Quay, with a total length of extension and modernisation of 1,200 meters of the quay.

As part of this development, a lightweight heavy-duty access covering solution was required to protect and provide access to below ground utilities. Following the installation of Fibrelite covers previously at Container Terminal DCT Gdańsk, Fibrelite’s Polish distributor Corrimex was the first port of call.
