This International Women’s Day, we wanted to take a moment to step away from the blueprints and CAD drawings to celebrate a vital member of our Commercial Interior Design team: Freya.
International Women’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s an opportunity to recognise the women who shape our culture, challenge our thinking, and drive our industry forward. Freya’s story is a perfect example of that impact in action.
A Journey of Growth
Freya’s history with Bluewood is one we’re particularly proud of. She first joined us as a student during her university sandwich year, a time of rapid learning and “deep end” experiences. Even then, her potential was obvious.
Instead of saying goodbye when she returned to her final year of studies, she remained a part of the Bluewood family part-time, balancing the rigors of her degree with real-world design challenges. Today, we are thrilled to have her as a full-time designer. Watching her transition from a curious student to a confident, professional powerhouse has been a highlight for the entire team.
More Than Just Design
In the fast-paced world of commercial interiors, technical skill is a given, but “intuition” is rare.
Over the last few years, Freya has become absolutely pivotal to our operations.
Aligned Vision: She has an uncanny ability to stay “in tune” with the Bluewood philosophy. This means that when a project hits her desk, she isn’t just drawing, she’s problem-solving in a way that aligns perfectly with our clients’ goals.
The Full Spectrum: From the very first spark of a design concept to the meticulous “snagging” and finishing touches, Freya brings a level of focus and an eye for detail that ensures nothing is left to chance.
A Collaborative Spirit: Design is never a solo sport. Freya’s greatest strength might be her ability to listen. She takes feedback, translates client needs into tangible spaces, and brings fresh, modern ideas to the table that keep our work feeling contemporary and energised.

At Bluewood, supporting Freya’s journey from the lecture hall to the design studio has been a rewarding experience for us all. Her thoughtful approach and unwavering positive attitude don’t just result in better offices—they result in a better workplace culture for our team.
