Community Speed Watch

Will be operating in the village between Saturday 29th March and Friday 11th April.

We are all only too aware that a great deal of traffic travels through the village in excess of the 30 mile an hour speed limit.
We all risk accidents every day, trying to pull out of our drives and roadways. Children crossing the road for school buses and going to the play park, also risk heir lives every day.

Running this scheme again this year helps us to support the Parish Councils requests to Leicestershire police and Rutland County Council to do more to reduce speeding in Essendine.

We plan to cover sessions in the mornings, lunchtime and during the evening to provide large amounts of data at different times of the day. This information when uploaded, will provide very valuable data to support our case for traffic calming measures to be installed ad a matter of urgency.

I do understand that many of you work and therefore have very limited opportunities to be able to help. However, if we are able to get a large number of people to assist us, it spreads the load and we may only need you to do one or to sessions over that period.

Please do volunteer and help us make a difference and make our village safer.
Please contact Community Speed Watch Coordinator, Adele Stainsby by email - [email protected] or phone or text
07939 132093.

Thank you in anticipation of your help and support.

Essendine Village Hall AGM - Wednesday 26th March 6pm

Essendine is very fortunate to have the lovely facility of the Village Hall and the grounds that surround it. Over the years, many events have taken place there and many villagers take advantage of the various clubs and activities that take place on a weekly basis.
It is also a very popular venue for all sorts of celebrations.

This year, we have several members of the committee who would like to stand down, who have been involved for many years.
The future of the Village Hall does require a working committee to ensure the Hall is kept in good condition.
We are a happy group of volunteers who give up just a couple of hours per month to help with the running and maintenance of the Hall.
We would really like to encourage new younger members of the community to join us and ensure that this facility is available for many more years to come.

Could you spare a couple of hours a month to help us maintain our village facility? If so, please do come along to our AGM on WEDNESDAY 26th MACRH at 6pm to see what we do and how you could become involved.

The future of the Village Hall really does depend on people stepping forward to help us out.
Around the country, many Village Halls have closed due to a shortage of volunteers to help run them.
We do not want Essendine Village Hall to become another casualty. However, I have to tell you that without a working committee, this is a distinct possibility.

Please, in the first instance, do get in touch to find out more.
This is a great way of getting to know people if you are relatively new to the village; we always welcome new ideas and activities that we could run in the hall. Could you be that person we need?

Contact Adele Stainsby, Chair, on [email protected] or by phone or text 07939 132093.
