What do we mean by a ‘remote site’?
After four flights, a boat journey and a mountainous hike, the SD Wind team reached one our remote sites in Greenland to assess a wind turbine requiring refurbishment. The following day, they travelled by a chartered helicopter over Greenland’s spectacular glacial landscape, to survey a second turbine.
To ensure the right refurb solution, our operatives travelled all the way from Glasgow to survey the turbines in person.
After completing the surveys, it was clear the journey had been worthwhile. SD Wind turbines are built to withstand some of the world’s harshest environments, but even the most robust systems rely on correct installation and routine servicing to perform at their best.
At SD Wind, we’re proud to support our customers whether their renewable systems are newly installed or have been out of service for years.
By the end of the trip, the team had identified turbine obstruction and maintenance issues and developed a clear plan to return to Greenland in September to carry out the required repairs and improvements.
No matter how remote the location, we’re committed to keeping renewable energy systems operating reliably. 🌍♻️⚡
