As with many things in life, the foundations are crucial and this is especially true with any building.

Fortunately, I've spent enough time in the business to know that each stage of the building process is just as important as the next. With the proper ground work and infrastructure we have the basis for delivering a successful finished product.

From concept to final product... I love it when a plan comes together!

This was an amazing project to be a part of - came to me with the idea of having his architect's office designed like the Filmmaker Derek Jarman's Prospect Cottage in Dungeness. Of course, I couldn't refuse!

Keeping the unique character of the Prospect Cottage was of the upmost importance with this project, while also making it a usable and dynamic work space. The final design allowed for plenty of workspace, as well as a sofa for relaxing after a long day's work, and storage for use as a traditional garden shed!

Ian followed up after the build was complete with the following feed back - "The building of our new Garden Studio was a hugely enjoyable process, made easier by your teams respect of our family privacy, and your friendly communication and eye for detail."

Cedar clad, hou sugi ban (焼杉板) originated in Japan in the 18th century primarily as way to treat cedar siding to make it weatherproof, the technique—which involves charring a wood surface to render it a deep charcoal-black.
