With the opening of the new Stockton waterfront this weekend, our neighbours, Stagecoach are undergoing a huge transformation in the Stockton area 🌟

The regeneration taking place across Teesside is something the Nordic team is seeing first-hand every day. These developments are creating new opportunities, bringing investment into the region, and supporting local employment.

We’re excited to announce that Nordic and Mactech Energy Group have reached a significant milestone in their collaboration supporting the Hinkley Point C project! 💡

This work forms part of our wider commitment to be part of major projects that generate meaningful value, support local communities, and align with our strong ESG principles.

Hinkley Point C is the first nuclear power station built in the UK for a generation and will provide low-carbon electricity to around six million homes.

As part of this programme, the Nordic team has been testing welders prior to site deployment and delivering training within the Net Zero Teesside region. This scope of work helps develop local expertise, strengthens the skills pipeline, and supports employment for residents of Teesside and beyond.

We’re proud to showcase the talent and expertise within our region and contribute to closing the skills gap in the UK’s energy sector right from our home in Teesside 👏

Nordic is excited to be supporting the Lower Thames Crossing project through the delivery of Engineering Construction Industry Training Board technical welder testing! 🌟

The Lower Thames Crossing is a major infrastructure project that will connect Kent and Essex via a tunnel beneath the River Thames. The new route will almost double road capacity east of London, helping to reduce congestion and giving millions of people greater choice in where they live, work, and spend their time!

Projects like this align with our ESG values by delivering positive, long-term benefits for communities and supporting the UK’s critical infrastructure projects.

From our Teesside facility, we carry out welder competence testing and training for this project. This process validates a welder’s skills, experience, and certified qualifications.

At Nordic, we acknowledge the skills gap in the UK results in employing skilled welders from overseas. Due to this, we are including skilled welders from Poland for the project.

From graffiti removal to litter picking, the Nordic team recently worked with partners CityCo & Manchester Business Improvement District to create a cleaner space in Manchester City Centre.

The Nordic Star Wall 🌟

As part of their final project, students nearing the end of their 6-week Welding and Fabrication course were tasked with designing and fabricating the Nordic-inspired frame and star, under the guidance of Paul Johnson, our Senior Welding Instructor.

The team wanted to enhance the inner security window frame in the main office and take the opportunity to do so in a way that also reinforced the Nordic brand.

This course is designed as an introduction to welding and fabrication. Projects like this are a fantastic way to showcase the range of practical skills, creativity and confidence developed throughout one of the many programmes that we offer!

The finished frame is now heading to one of our local powder-coating suppliers before returning for installation and we’re looking forward to seeing the final result!

On Thursday 2nd July, our very own, Mark Roddy will be taking on a 150km ride from Belfast to Dublin to raise funds for the incredible work of the MFC Foundation.

From supporting local communities to delivering life-changing programmes in health, education and wellbeing, the foundation makes a real difference.
