Another premium boiler install yesterday for a lovely couple who've had a bit of bad luck with their new home, they were shown proof the boiler had been serviced in February this year
upon inspection found multiple contraventions of building regulations and multiple safety issues including the boiler casing just being left loose which is crucial to be sealed as this affects the combustion process. Incorrect flue fitted. Prv pipe just pushed into outside wall and many more including signs of wear and tear due to its age.
After pointing all this out to customer and providing a report for their solicitor turns out previous owners are not liable and litigation would be their only option but obviously costing in the 1000s.
After spending time with my customer and carrying out site survey my customer opted for peace of mind and went for the ideal vogue max 12 year manufacturer's warranty along with a smart thermostat..
Been a pleasure installing this one even though it was a tough install.
Moral of this story is if you are buying a property and you are due to complete would be in best practice to get your trusted gas installer to come and carry out an inspection if this was caught prior to completion previous owner would have been liable dont get caught out..
