Today, we celebrate the well-earned retirement of Andrew Barnett! A valued member of IAE for nearly three decades, Andy’s presence will be deeply missed by his colleagues within distribution and across the team.

Andy began his journey with IAE in 1996 at just 33 years old, starting as a Forklift Driver at the Barnfields site in Leek. Over the past 29 years, he has worn many hats, always willing to lend a hand, he could be found keeping operations running smoothly in the distribution yard and has even built up a Cattle Crush or two when he was needed…

It’s just one year ago today that our Apprentice Development Centre or ADC for short was officially unveiled! 🥳

This purpose-built training centre has been a valuable resource for our engineering apprentices, allowing them to explore different skills before moving on to work amongst the various divisions. ➡️

Alongside the support of their training providers, our apprentices have the guidance and expertise of our Learning & Development Instructor, Phil, who has enabled their day-to-day development and involvement in local projects using the ADC.

This training centre has been vital in the creation of community projects such as the “Heart of Stoke-on-Trent”, a sculpture made alongside Strathmore college, that currently resides in the Trentham Shopping Village. 💛

Plus, our participation in the World Skills Awards for Metal Fabrication with apprentices Jack and Kyle!

We hope that throughout the year our Apprentice Development Centre will facilitate many more exciting opportunities for our apprentices 💫

At IAE, apprenticeships are an integral part of our business that span across multiple departments and provide valuable career opportunities.

This , we’re highlighting just some of our recent graduates who have successfully completed their apprenticeships and continued their career with us.

🔹Archie completed his Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship last year and now works as a trainee project CAD technician.

🔹Kieran achieved his Level 2 in Business Administration, recently became a Team Leader, and is now working towards his Level 3 Engineering Manufacturing Technician qualification.

🔹Adam undertook a Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship and is now a Welder in our special projects sector.

🔹Chloe was named North Staffordshire Engineering Group (NSEG) Apprentice of the Year 2022 during her Level 3 Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship and now works as a Transport Coordinator.

🔹Billee, a 2024 graduate, completed her Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship is now part of our Human Resources Department.

We are incredibly proud to see our apprentices grow into valued members of the IAE team, developing essential skills and building rewarding careers.

Apprenticeships open doors to exciting opportunities, and we look forward to supporting even more talented individuals in the future! 🚀

Its National Apprenticeship Week and we wanted to celebrate some of the achievements of our apprentices both past and present!

In 2023, our apprentices Jack and Tom were part of a local project to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

This involved creating an archway for the Queen’s Gardens in Newcastle Under Lyme, which was topped with a decorative crown! Modelled after the St Edward Crown traditionally used in Coronations. 👑

The installation was part of a series of public works celebrating the 850th anniversary of the Borough being granted a Royal Charter, commemorating the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and celebrating the town’s successful connection with Britain in Bloom.

2 years later- Jack is now a Welder in our R&D sector who is pursuing his Level 3 in Metal Fabrication. Whilst Tom is continuing his Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship.

IAE are so proud to have recently completed a project alongside Strathmore College. Together we created a brand-new sculpture for the Trentham Shopping Village! 🌳

The sculpture was designed to represent the roots and growth of the six towns and to celebrate the love and unity within Stoke-on-Trent.

The original concept came from two Strathmore students and with thanks to our apprentices grew from a 2D design into a fully galvanized steel tree complete with rose gold heart-shaped archway. 💖

This gave our apprentices and the students at Strathmore a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and contribute a long-lasting piece of art to the local community. 🎨

We are so happy to have brought this vision to life and look forward to seeing the sculpture in its new home for many years to come!
