Today, The Spark Group is proud to join the care community across the UK in celebrating National Care Day. We are raising our voices alongside the "Voices that Care" to champion the incredible potential of our care-experienced young people.

We are particularly excited to highlight the success of our 'Supporting Care Leavers into Employment' program. Developed in partnership with Staffordshire County Council as part of the wider Pathways to Success agenda, this initiative is all about opening doors and breaking down barriers.

The sparks are flying (metaphorically, of course!) in our Home Education program today as our learners dive headfirst into the world of electrical installation. 🛠️💡

We aren’t just talking about theory; we’re getting hands-on with the essential skills that power our world. Today’s high-voltage agenda includes:

The Golden Rule: Mastering Safe Isolation to ensure every job starts and ends safely.

Lighting the Way: Wiring up lighting circuits from scratch.

Powering Up: Understanding the complexity and precision of ring mains.

It is incredible to watch these students gain the confidence to handle professional-grade challenges. They aren't just learning a trade; they’re building a foundation for a future without limits!

As National Apprenticeship Week 2026 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a phenomenal half-term at The Spark Group.

Despite a wet and dreary January and February, the energy in our workshop has been high. Massive credit goes to our Lead Tutor, Brian Pepper , for keeping our learners inspired and hands-on throughout the winter gloom. Your dedication to the "Spark Way" is what makes this business Thrive.

A massive shoutout to our Property Maintenance apprentices; they’ve spent the week mastering plastering skills, demonstrating a level of quality and precision that is truly site-ready. It’s inspiring to see that the "Engine" of the business is performing at such a high standard.

We are also incredibly proud of our Reignite cohort from Discovery Academy, Study Program Groups and our Pathways to Success group. They’ve put in the hard graft this half term, showing exactly what can be achieved when learning is practical, engaging, and grounded in the real world. Enjoy the well-deserved break, team!

But we aren't slowing down. This Monday, we go again with the launch of our brand-new Home Education Provision. This pilot is a huge milestone for us, opening up our workshop to a new group of learners and providing them with the tools to build a future in the trades.

We’ve had so many inquiries and now it’s officially time! We are inviting expressions of interest for our 5-Day Trade Skills intensive.
Give your learner (ages 14-16) the chance to get off the screen and into the workshop to earn a Level 1 Certification.

What’s happening:
🪚 Day 1: Joinery Skills & Health and Safety

🚰 Day 3: Plumbing Essentials
📚 Day 4: Theory & Portfolio Development (distance)

Introducing the Spark Group Home Education Construction Program!
Give your home-educated student a recognised qualification and practical, life-changing skills in just one intensive week.
This isn't just theory, it's five days of serious, hands-on learning, designed to give your learner a Level 1 Introduction to Construction certification, accredited by Highfield.

What They Will Build in 5 Days:
Prior Learning (Online & Packs) You get sent the pre reading and H&S packs to build on in your first practical day. You start the development of your portfolio.
Day 1 & 5: Joinery Skills Develop practical joinery with a professional trade tutor, focusing on professional finishes.
Day 2: Electrical Installation Learn the basics of electrics, creating functional lighting circuits and ring mains.
Day 3: Plumbing Installation Explore the essentials of plumbing, designing and developing core bathroom-based skills.
Day 4: Theory (Distance) Complete associated theory to consolidate learning.

We have recently featured in the local news paper and in local and national news on the BBC, and this is something we are both proud of and humbled by. This recognition means so much to us because it highlights the hard work, dedication, and heart that our team puts into supporting young people every single day.

Every achievement, every milestone, and every positive step forward belongs to the amazing young people we work with. Their resilience, confidence, and growth are exactly why we do what we do.
