Although this item looks new, it is in fact a used Spitfire Tail Oleo Part No 90356-Sht-1 that’s had a seal conversion back to standard(from a Shamban set-up), new main body(original was impact damaged) and other parts to return it to serviceability, in this case for the BBMF.

These are spinner nose caps for the 3, 4 and 5 bladed Rotol propellor spinners we manufacture.

It’s not all Spitfires here at Supermarines, we get asked many times to manufacture parts for other warbirds, in this case pipework for the BBMF’s Lancaster PA474 as she has major refurbishment work carried out by our friends at ARCo at Duxford.

We have developed a process that captures the fits, route and tolerances of the pipework which is transferred to jigs which can then be used many times to replicate the pipes in the future, this system has been used to capture all Spitfire variants as well as Mosquito sets we made for the superb aircraft manufactured down-under by Avspecs.

We are currently busy on a number of interesting projects (watch this space), but we are always maintaining our stock of parts for next-day dispatch. Shown here are the Spitfire Aileron Control Pulleys (Part No. 30033-Sht-42), which are unusually made from Tufnol (an early plastic) and are located in the main wing structure, guiding the aileron control cables, which we also manufacture.

A classic example of the varied small items we get asked to produce for customers worldwide and not always Spitfire, here we see the tiny locking bolt(Part No 30059-437) for the Spitfires Flap cylinder to 3 different mounting clips for Hurricanes, never a dull moment at Supermarines!

Our task at Supermarines is very varied, another example being a small production batch of Spitfire trim gauges, a nice fiddly job but they seem to have come out OK!

Well done to our apprentice Harry who carried out a lot of work on these assemblies.

Many apologies for not posting recently, we’ve still been busy adding to our product range as well as supporting Spitfire operators and restoration projects worldwide.

The latest major item to hit our shelves are the tail oleos for the fixed tail wheel Spitfires, Part No 90356-Sht-1 - As always, made with our usual attention to detail and precision.

These units are totally interchangeable with original oleos both as a complete assembly and as component parts(which we also stock). Original items which can be refurbished are now getting rare so these are ideal replacements for airworthy aircraft or for restoration projects in need of these units. The retractable tail wheel variant(which is a totally different assembly) are currently in development and will be publicised when ready for release.
