We do our best keeping old boilers going and we appreciate moneys tight for a lot of people.
Unfortunately this old Vailant had finally given up after doing over 30 years of service and with some parts being obsolete and limited support available from the manufacturer it was time to replace.

New Worcester 4000 combi installed complete with Worcester filter giving 10 years guarantee (subject to yearly service by a gas safe engineer).

It’s been a busy couple of weeks particularly with boiler installs.

Customer called us to attend to an emergency on a powermax he, we discovered one of the internal copper pipes was corroded and was leaking. Unfortunately the part was obsolete so a new boiler was required.

Property has 2 bathrooms so the customer opted for a 4000 18kw system boiler and a separate 120l unvented cylinder in the cupboard next door.
Due to the powermax pipework coming out in the middle of the floor we built a raised floor to conceal the pipework.

10 year guarantee on the boiler gives the customer peace of mind.

One of the best bits of my job is visiting buildings that you wouldn’t normally access and boilers you wouldn’t normally see.
Found this absolute gem in Baker Street this week, originally coal fired it was later converted to run on gas, I was only allowed to do a gas safety check as the boiler contains asbestos and wasn’t permitted to open it up.
Building due demolition march 2026 so this beast will be scrapped.
Mostly everything is original in the building including the Thames gas signage which I have requested to keep when the building is stripped.
Proper British engineering at its finest that has lasted 60+ years.

Today we are here carrying out a service and gas safety check on this remeha Quinta commercial boiler.

This week we were asked to visit a school in Tunbridge wells recently acquired by one of our commercial clients.

As well as a smell of gas that greeted us on arrival we found a whole host of faults including a water lever valve fitted on the gas supply, leaking solenoid valve and the rubber flow hoses blocked on the boilers.
Parts ordered and returned the next day to carry out the necessary repairs in time for school reopening.

We cover east Anglian, home counties and the south east for all commercial heating requirements.

Another week and another powermax being removed due to cracked flue.
It’s Becoming a common issue with these now and unfortunately baxi/potterton have stopped supplying flues for them.

If you live with a powermax he and you don’t have a contract/regular service carried out please make sure you get your boiler inspected in particular the plastic flues for signs of cracking.

If you wish to get your powermax serviced/ inspected please get in touch.

This property was a 4 bed/2 bathroom so an unvented cylinder and system boiler are the ideal replacement for the powermax.

This old Worcester HE is testament to great engineering, this boiler we are servicing today is over 27 years old and is still going strong.

It goes to show that yearly servicing and system care does pay and will prolong the life of your boiler.

It still continues to be a busy month and this time we are replacing a failed wallstar boiler.
For years this system had been neglected by the previous owners so it was time for a change.

Space was tight in the kitchen so again we called on our friends at Hounsfeild boilers for a solution.
With the Old wall star out and bricked up by our super bricky Malcom Plumb then a nice Hounsfeild Tuscan 12/19 was fitted complete with new unvented cylinder, 4x new radiators, sealed system kit, hive controls and topped off with a powerflush.

One very happy customer and now allows them to have their kitchen replaplaced and re tiled.

Thanks again to Hounsfield Boilers Ltd , Plumbase Stowmarket and the team for another cracking job!!

Today marks the end of this boiler replacement project at a beautiful old rectory near Ipswich.

The customer called us on the back of a recommendation from Hounsfeild boilers to replaced their failed 50kw thermecon boiler and With over 40 radiators split over 3 separate systems and over 500 ltrs of hot water storage to maintain it made for a interesting job.

We was unable to install a boiler back in the main house due to installation constraints (mainly flueing and ventilation) so 2x high efficiency Hounsfeild boilers were installed in the customers cartlodge as there was plenty of space plus the flues would be out of site from the main courtyard.

Having two individual boilers means the customer now only has to have one boiler running in the summer to maintain hot water thus reducing fuel consumption and when the colder wether arrives the other boiler will pick up the demand.

A massive thank you to all involved including Hounsfield Boilers Ltd, Plumbase Stowmarket, E & P Insulations in Stowmarket for completing the external pipe lagging, Maincor for their support with the pre insulated underground pipework, Andy holland our sparky and the rest of the team for your hard efforts.

Call from a new customer this week requesting our help to solve a boiler issue that stumped two other companies.

Customer reported boilers kept overheating and system not achieving correct temperature.
After checking the basics we decided to delve a little deeper and using our thermal camera we found both boilers were blocked.
Using a long boiler brush we broke through the blockages in the bottom of the heat exchanger waterways and using a flushing chemical cleaned though each boiler.
After flushing both boilers out it was shocking to see how much shale we collected.
Both boilers were recommissioned and are both happily working.
Return visit booked to correct oil line defects
