Thermal Image UK Find out where heat is leaking from your home, school or commercial premises and wasting you money. Visit www.thermalimageuk.com for more information

Thermal imaging identifies heat loss by identifying hot spots on the outside (and cold spots on the inside) of a building. These can be caused by missing or badly fitted insulation, dampness, cold bridging and air leaks and draughts.

Unsealed dry-lining is the #1 cause of heat loss in new homes in the UK.

All the energy generated by building Sizewell C nuclear power station - at a cost of £40 billion - will simply go towards replacing the excess energy lost from poorly built new homes, as governments in Edinburgh and London struggle to get to grips with this simple problem, which is entirely avoidable by carrying out checks during construction.

Internal wall surface temperatures are allowed to drop to 10C less than air temperature - sucking all the heat out your home.

There are many great developers building super energy efficient new homes, but there are no consistent checks to pick up the ones that fail to meet this standard.

Our thermal imaging scans can show whether your house suffers from this problem, and gives you the evidence to prove it.

New build houses with unsealed dry lining (dot & dab) - can lead to increased bills, unnecessary heat loss and cold spots, as well as making it harder to achieve carbon emission reduction targets.
There are many fantastic developers in Scotland building super energy efficient homes, but many new houses with basic heat loss problems still get through. For thermal surveys and air tightness testing, contact Thermal Image UK on 01357 520557.

Late changes to a project often lead to cost over-runs and delays. And what might seem like a simple request - "can we add storage space there?" - can have unintended consequences. Often in new-build homes with a room-in-the-roof, there can be a late request to put storage cupboards in to the eaves voids. However, the location of the air tightness line and the insulation need to be considered before this is done. Cutting a door straight in to the eaves void and creating a cupboard can lead to cold air infiltration and draughts, and can disturb the insulation. It can be done, but be sure to take advice to avoid the pitfalls. This house that we tested in Stirling had 4 of these cupboard doors added, causing it to initially fail the air-test. We were able to point out the problem areas, and help ensure the house achieved compliance.
