We would like to let our customers know of the sad passing of our friend and colleague, Dave Garrick. A lot of you will have met Dave over the years, and probably made him a strong cup of tea! Our condolences are with all of his family and friends at this sad time.

Dave’s funeral will take place at 12.30pm this Friday, 5th June, at Sunderland Crematorium with a gathering to follow at Humbledon & Plains Farm Working Men’s Club.

Following on from our last post, here's Part 2 of our Spring Series: 3 Quick DIY Wins for Homeowners.

While you’re getting stuck into the spring cleaning, it’s the perfect time to give your plumbing a quick once-over too.

1️⃣ Check your outdoor taps: After the frost we’ve had, take a look at your garden taps. If they’re dripping or feel stiff, they might have suffered over the winter.

2️⃣ The Toilet Tank Trick: Want to find a sneaky leak? Put a few drops of food colouring in your toilet tank. Wait about 30 minutes without flushing: if the colour seeps into the bowl, you’ve got a leak that’s wasting water and money! 🚽🎨

3️⃣ Clear those gutters: It’s not strictly plumbing, but blocked gutters can lead to damp issues inside your home. A quick clear-out now saves a lot of hassle later.

Brrr, it’s definitely getting a bit chilly out there today! 🥶

With the temperature dropping across the North East, we wanted to share a few quick tips to help you avoid the nightmare of frozen pipes. A little bit of prevention now can save a whole lot of stress (and water!) later on.

Here’s what you can do to keep things flowing:

🔹 Keep your heating on a low, constant temperature, even when you're out.
🔹 Check that any pipes in unheated areas, like garages or lofts, are tucked up warm with some foam lagging.
🔹 Open your under-sink cupboard doors to let warmer air circulate around the plumbing.
🔹 If you’ve got a dripping tap, try to get it fixed sooner rather than later, those drips can freeze up pretty quickly!
