There’s something about seeing a hut settle into its landscape that just never gets old for us.

This one's nestled into the wild beauty of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. With rolling hills, big skies and the quiet you only find in these peaceful corners of the Highlands.

Last month we took Tartan & Thistle on tour, bringing the finishing touches to one of our builds and being reminded (again) just how lucky we are to call this place home!

From East to West, North to South, there's so much history. So many layers, life, memories and stories in every landscape.

And we are so grateful to be building these small, beautiful spaces that then become a part of it all.

Not every job goes exactly to plan.

This one was pushed back a little ◇ life happens ◇ but our customers met it with patience and kindness, which never goes unnoticed!

When we got there, the weather showed up for us… and we turned it around in just 3½ days.

And as always, it was a full team effort... including our smallest apprentice, who’s quickly getting to grips with the tools and the craft.

Hard work, fresh air, family alongside us,
we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Roads that wind. Views that stop you in your tracks. Weather that keeps you guessing...

A wee trip out to Ardnamurchan last month, part work, part reconnecting with why we do what we do.

We spent time crossing the Highlands, watching the landscape shift mile after mile, before landing on the west coast to bring a project to life.

We even stole a day or two wandering through places like Drumnatorran Burial Ground, and beach combing with the kids in Strontian! ☠️ 🦀🐚

Work and life, all woven together.

The light starts to come back before you really notice it. Doors open, kettle on, boots left outside after a day out, instead of hiding from the wild winter weather. This is when the huts shine as a flexible space, and gateway to nature.

The longer days mean more time out there. Walks that don’t feel rushed. Evenings that stretch on.

Opportunity’s in the air.

Invest in your land.

Create something worth coming back to. A hut to call home for every season.

Building in the Highlands comes with its own realities.

Over the years we’ve seen first-hand how pressures on rural communities affect everyday life, from housing shortages to the gradual loss of local services.

When our local nursery was mothballed due to falling numbers, it was a reminder of how closely things like housing, childcare, and community sustainability are connected.

It’s one of the reasons we’ve been thinking more about the role modular buildings could play in supporting rural life in the future.

AI can put our huts on the moon, Ben Nevis, the middle a Loch, Princes Street or even amongst the Dino's...

But we prefer crofts, gardens, hillsides and quiet corners of the Highlands!

Because these aren’t concepts or renders. They’re real spaces, built by hand, and built to last. X

A Highland bulit hut, settled into its life as a croft stay, doing exactly what it was built to do offering shelter and comfort on a winter’s night.

Tonight we'll raise a wee dram to poetry, craft, and the kind of warmth that lasts longer than the whisky.
