It’s been another incredibly busy week at Haywood Engineering Ltd, with this latest fabrication and installation project completed today for a valued customer of ours.

This project involved the fabrication and installation of a new elevated access platform, an additional lower-level walkway and two smaller access platforms, all designed to improve accessibility and provide safer working conditions for plant operatives.

One of the more challenging aspects of this job was the main elevated platform, we had to work around the existing plant and machinery, developing a practical solution on site, including installing additional supporting steelwork to accommodate the new structure.

The finished installation includes:

🔹 A bespoke elevated access platform with galvanised flooring and safety handrails.

🔹 Fixed access ladder complete with a self-closing safety gate.

🔹 Additional walkway installed beneath the main platform.

🔹 Two smaller access platform extensions, allowing operators to access equipment safely without having to reach over existing handrails.

This is exactly the kind of engineering work we enjoy! Taking an idea or a problem, working out the best practical solution and seeing it through from fabrication to installation.

It’s also brilliant to see businesses continuing to invest in improving workplace safety for their employees. Sometimes relatively small modifications can make a huge difference to the people operating and maintaining machinery every day.

We’re delighted with how this project has turned out, and it’s another great example of the variety of work we undertake at Haywood Engineering Ltd.

We’ve had an incredibly busy few months, with some great projects keeping us flat out across the Highlands. Plenty of early starts, late finishes and weekends in the workshop and out on site!

One of our latest completed projects was for another new industrial client, where we were tasked with the fabrication and installation of three cooler access hatches, complete with electrical safety interlocks.

All steelwork was fabricated and installed by Haywood Engineering Ltd, with the electrical installation and interlock systems carried out by Munro Electrical.

It’s always rewarding to establish relationships with new clients, and we’re delighted with how this project went and the positive feedback received on our work.

We’re continuing to build strong relationships across the industrial, agricultural, marine and construction sectors, providing everything from workshop fabrication to on-site mechanical maintenance, installations and breakdown support.

Two bespoke fall arrest frames fabricated and installed for access to the top of a silo.

The frames provide operators with a secure point to clip on their fall-arrest equipment while carrying out work around the top of the silo, helping to make access safer and giving proper protection when working at height.

Designed, fabricated and fitted to suit the existing structure — another job from the workshop through to site. 💪

Really happy with how this crane overhaul is coming together. A fair bit of work has gone into stripping things back, carrying out repairs and upgrades, and getting everything back together looking the part.

Still plenty to do, but it’s always satisfying when you start to see the finished job taking shape. 👌

And what a night to be working on it! 🌅 Couldn’t ask for a better view while getting the job done.

Another project that’s been a pleasure to be involved in!

A busy one this week at Haywood Engineering, with one of the jobs this portable/towable field shelter fabricated in the workshop and installed on site this morning.

Designed to be moved around the croft as needed, it gives a handy bit of shelter while keeping everything sturdy and practical. 💪

We’ve also managed to have the oldest and youngest members of the family on the tools this week! 👴👧

Jess was keen to get involved, although we did run into one slight problem… she couldn’t quite reach the high bits! 😂 So between the two of us, we eventually managed to get the job done!

It’s always good to get the family involved and pass a few skills on along the way. ❤️

Another job finished and ready for plenty of use around the croft!

We’re currently involved in the fabrication of a new bridge, giving a local farmer safe and reliable access across the d**e and into his field.

It’s been a great job to get stuck into, with plenty of heavy steelwork, fabrication and preparation going into making sure this bridge is built to do the job for years to come. 💪🔩

And it’s not just the younger generation getting involved… 😂

My 76-year-old granda is always looking for an excuse to get his hands dirty and help out wherever he can! Here he is giving the beams a good coat of undercoat for me. 👨‍🔧🎨

Absolutely brilliant having him around the workshop — although I’m not sure if he’s helping me or just making sure I’m doing it right! 😂

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us yesterday at the Sutherland Show . It was brilliant to meet so many people throughout the day. We had some great conversations, made some new contacts, caught up with familiar faces and hopefully opened the door to a few future opportunities. Days like this remind you how important it is to get out there and meet people face to face.

The drill challenge created plenty of laughs and a bit of friendly competition all while raising money for a great cause - £85.90 for Mikeysline. Every penny will go towards supporting the amazing work they do.

A big thank you as well to everyone involved in organising the show. It takes a huge amount of work behind the scenes to put on an event like that, and it was great to be part of it.

We’ll definitely be back next year… bigger, better and with even more to show! 💪
