Having completed the pre-construction design phase on behalf of Pedrano and Cordia UK, we are delighted to be given the green light to start works on this project, starting at the beginning of May.

It’s been a great collborative effort to date, with several challenges navigated to get to this point – we cant wait to get stuck into the construction works.

Our role as construction manager, further reinforces our commitment to offering best value and affordable solutions for project delivery, operating outside of the traditional contracting route. This is not something that developers, end-users and contractors should overlook!

“Envisage, engineer, emerge” has been our mantra at SY Homes as we bring our vision for new residential apartments in Old Coleham, Shrewsbury to reality.

After significant investment in architectural and engineering expertise, above-ground construction of our state-of-art building starts this month.

Our visionary management team relished the opportunity to bring life back to this brownfield site close to the heart of Coleham. The riverside location required complex engineering and SY Homes have united with inspiring team of structural and civil engineers, construction consultants, architects and designers, groundwork engineers and experienced steel fabricators.

This month, the elegantly curved silhouette of Old Coleham Court will emerge. The car park level will be demarcated, well above 1-in-30-year flood event levels. The first floor apartments are raised to 4.7m above ground level.

Fun fact of the week!

(Did you know?) London's first 'Modern skyscraper' was completed in 1980, known at the time as The Natwest Building and consisted of 42 floors.

The building was designed by Richard Seifert and engineered by Pell Freshman. It is known by most as Tower 42 and situated at 25 Old Broad Street.

Tower 42 stands at an impressive 183 metres, reportedly cost £72 million (approximately £311mil in todays money) and remained the UK's tallest building until 'One Canada Square' in Canary Wharf topped out in 1990.

Even today the skyscraper remains the fifth-tallest building in the City of London.

(Did you know?) The JCT - Joint Contracts Tribunal - was founded in 1931.

It was formed by the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and issued its first standard form contract the year of its inception.

Standard forms of contract within the industry date back to the 19th century, but today, JCT is the leading provider of contract documentation covering main and sub-contracts, but also various guidance papers on homeowner contracts, partnering documents and collateral warranties.
