Job Description: Senior Technical Manager, My LOW Carbon Limited
The Role
Key responsibilities:
• Provision of technical management and oversight at tender stage to ensure projects are assessed and Solar PV systems design, specification, performance, quality and project timescales are deliverable
• To design commercial Solar PV systems using appropriate software
• DNO applications
• Management of the installation team whether internal or external contractors) throughout the pre-construction stage to ensure that projects commence on time and with sufficient and correct design information
• Developing good working relationships with sub-contractors, suppliers and alongside the Business Development Director, clients during installation phase
• Liaising with suppliers, site staff and installation teams. Solar PV / Electrical contracting installations - average of 1MW roof top and 5-20MW private wire ground mounted systems
• Specification and procurement of materials and equipment
• Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
• Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are up to date and installation team are regularly briefed through toolbox talks
• Maintaining documentation accurately and updating QMS
• Act as Nominated Technical Person for MCS purposes
• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert from a technical perspective for the company
The Person
Has to have:
• Experience in designing and delivering commercial solar projects.
• Relevant experience working within the renewables sector, ideally commercial Solar PV, Energy Efficiency and an operational/project management type role.
• Electrical contracting experience will be well regarded as will a HSE qualification, Ground mounted PV and battery storage experience
• Engineering technical excellence and pride in work / project outcomes
• Strong Project Management skills, ensuring optimal design and costs on all projects
• Minimum 3 years' experience managing commercial-scale solar PV projects and teams, in addition to managing UK DNO G99 & G100 requirements and conditions
• Ability to interpret PV designs for all building types
• Strong electrical background, and specifically: NVQ Level 3 and fully qualified AM2 electrical qualifications (or equivalent), Inspection and testing qualifications (City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5 or equivalent), 18th Edition City & Guilds (or equivalent)
• Provide evidence of in date qualifications or personal certifications (and reassessment if appropriate), secured within the proceeding 5 years against the list of MCS approved training for Solar PV installations
Would be nice to have:
• Experience in designing larger scale Commercial Solar PV (>1 MW) systems
• Familiarity with Battery Electric Storage Systems, particularly AI based applications allowing grid trading arbitrage
• Experience of other net zero technologies such as LED Lighting and Heat Pumps that the company may expand into
The Benefits
Salary £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
