Pop in for a cuppa, meet our Energy Champions, and chat through simple ways to stay warm and reduce your bills. Whether you need advice or just fancy a conversation, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Join us on 10th September for a cosy Winter Warmers event. Our Energy Champions will be on hand for friendly chats about cutting energy costs, staying warm this winter, and accessing local support. Or, if you just want a cup of tea and a chat, you’re more than welcome.

💚 Sometimes, people don’t need another number to call. They just need someone to HELP

This week, a local resident walked back into the Tendring Community Energy Hub at 16 Station Road because he simply couldn’t get the electricity working in his new home.

He had moved into his flat less than two weeks earlier.

He had topped up his electricity meter.

BUT NOTHING WORKED

He tried contacting his landlord.
He tried his energy supplier.
He tried the electricity network operator.

And each time, he was passed from one to the other.

👉 “You need to speak to them.”
👉 “That’s not our responsibility.”
👉 “You’ll need to contact someone else.”

And so the circle continued.

The problem was made even harder because this resident doesn’t have a mobile phone and doesn’t have internet access. Trying to navigate several organisations, explain the problem and work out who was actually responsible was incredibly difficult.

So we decided to do something different.

WE TOOK OWNERSHIP

We visited his flat and checked what was happening.

We contacted the energy supplier and established that electricity was reaching the property.

That meant the problem wasn’t with the supply coming into the flat — it was something that needed the landlord to investigate.

So we contacted the landlord directly.

AND FINALLY

someone acted.

An electrician was immediately arranged to attend.

For many people, this might sound like a small problem.

But imagine moving into your new home, having no electricity, no internet, no mobile phone — and then being passed from organisation to organisation with nobody taking responsibility.

That’s not just frustrating.

It’s frightening.

And this is exactly why Tendring Community Energy exists.

We don’t just give people another telephone number.

🔸And, where we can, we take ownership and help find a solution.

Because behind every energy problem is a real person.

And sometimes, all that person needs is someone to stand beside them and say:

“Don’t worry. We’ll work through this together.” 💚
