Part Four - Lighting

Lighting played a key role in shaping the atmosphere of this high-end media room we recently completed in Sussex.

Working closely with the interiors company, we integrated a layered lighting scheme with fittings to enhance the space's architecture and ensure the room could effortlessly transition from a relaxed lounge to an immersive cinema setting via Control4 keypads and Touchscreen.

Subtle architectural lighting highlights around the timber beams and bespoke shelving, while soft perimeter lighting creates a warm, comfortable ambience without distracting from the screen. Careful control of light levels ensures the perfect balance between design and performance, maintaining the room's luxurious feel while optimising the viewing experience.

It's a great example of how thoughtful lighting design can elevate a media room, ensuring the technology performs at its best while the space remains beautiful to live in.

Part Three - Kaleidescape

A standout feature of this Sussex media room is the inclusion of the Kaleidescape movie platform, delivering a truly premium movie-watching experience.

The system combines a Kaleidescape Strato C movie player with a Terra 8TB movie server, giving the client instant access to a beautifully organised library of studio-quality 4K films. Unlike traditional streaming services, Kaleidescape delivers movies at the highest available bitrates with full-reference audio formats, ensuring the picture and sound quality match the performance of the cinema system.

With thousands of films available from the movie store downloaded to the Terra server, and immediate, completely seamless playback, the experience is simple and intuitive for the client while maintaining uncompromised cinematic quality.

Paired with the room’s high-performance projection and surround-sound system, Kaleidoscope helps turn this media room into a true private-cinema experience at home.

Part two - The projection screen

A key feature of this recently completed media room in Sussex is the projection system, designed to deliver a true cinematic experience while remaining completely discreet within the space.

The room features a Sony VPL-XW7000 laser projector paired with a 110" Screen Research tensioned drop-down masking screen, providing exceptional brightness, colour accuracy and contrast for stunning 4K movie playback. Together, they create a large-format image that transforms the room into a private cinema when the system is in use.

To maintain the space's clean interior design, the projector is concealed within a custom Future Automation projector drop. This product allows the projector to remain hidden when not in use, lowering into the perfect viewing position at the touch of a button.

Combined with carefully controlled lighting by Control4 and bespoke interior finishes, the projection system delivers an immersive cinema experience while preserving the room's elegant aesthetic.

Part 1 - The Media Wall

This stunning high-end media room in Sussex was created in close collaboration with the client and their interiors company to deliver an immersive cinema experience without compromising the space's elegant finish.

From the very beginning of the project, the focus was on seamlessly integrating high-performance AV technology into a beautifully designed living environment. Every detail was carefully considered, from the positioning of the speakers and subwoofers within the custom media wall to the custom colour-matching of the Lutron blind headboxes, side channels, and all the visible speakers, ensuring they blended perfectly with the interior finishes.

The result is a luxurious yet functional media room that provides outstanding cinema performance while remaining visually calm, warm, and inviting.

All the technology is operated by Control4.
