This beautiful Fairline Corsica 'Lady J’ had a check over before the KAD42 engines were serviced then winterised.
On arrival to the boat I noticed water starting to pool on the deck. So as the engines were warming up the deck drains were cleared of debris, leaves swept, removed and bilges checked and mopped up. 🔧⚙️

Early start today to get this Sunseeker San Remo 35 running twin Yamaha 420sti inboards from Fowey to St.Germans to be hauled out for winter storage.

After fixing all the issues that scuppered the last attempt we kept a close eye on the weather and thankfully had a break that coincided with the tide we needed.

3am wake up, 4am crew pick up, 5am boat run up and recheck, 6am leave Fowey Harbour, 7am round Rame head and head into Plymouth Sound.
We then cruised up the Tamar River, into the Lynher River and made our way to St.Germans. Arriving 20mins before high tide 👌

To paraphrase Epictetus ‘it’s not about what happens, but how you deal with it that counts'……this Sunseeker San Remo 35 put that to the test recently.

We were tasked to move the customers boat from Looe to St Germans to be hauled out for winter. After keeping a close eye on the weather and tides our date and time was locked in.
A 3am start last Saturday, we had to be leaving Looe by 6am and we’re on the boat just before 5am.
After getting soaked we set to prepping to depart and then things went wrong…..engines sluggish to start, alternators not charging and then the final blow the starboard engine wouldn’t restart. Feeling slightly deflated we packed up and returned to base unpacked and went for breakfast.

Over breakfast we made our next plan as the boat had to be out of Looe by the following Friday. With the winds closing in again we returned on the Wednesday to move the boat to Fowey on one engine with a support boat on standby just in case.

A slow passage at 7 knots but all went without a hitch.
With the boat safety moored up it was time for a coffee and cake then cruise back to Looe on the mighty Highfield Patrol 600.

I then drove back to the boat and started fault finding. After lots of testing, cleaning and boat yoga the issue was found and the cause repaired.
Both engines now staring well, charging and planing is underway for the passage to St. Germans for haul out 😁 🔧

This Aquador 25 powered by a Volvo Penta KAD44 EDC was giving the customer a bit of a headache.
I was called in to investigate a shift and throttle issue, after some checks through components and fault code reset the system was selecting gear and throttle response was back.
Then onto fixing the mechanical engine problems:
Seized tensioner replaced and new bolt installed, all components and plate cleaned and painted before being reinstalled. The same treatment was given to the second tensioner unit.
All pulley grooves cleaned to remove corrosion and pitting then spray with corrosion block.
Leaking worn raw water hose repaired and moved to prevent further problems.
Leaking raw water pump removed, dismantled, cleaned and rebuilt with new seals and gaskets.
Battery cables, terminals and wiring to batteries replaced, repaired, cleaned and tidied where necessary.
Leaking deck glands resealed and automatic bilge pump wiring repaired.

Once works were complete engine was run up to temp and checked over before sea trials 🔧⚙️.

No point sugar coating it the weather has been sh*te! And there’s been no let up on work load with added insurance jobs coming in due to the poor weather and failed equiptment.
I had a customer call in asking for his rib to be checked as he’d been away for a while, it was a good call as the bilge pump had failed and the rib was swamped. This was rectified and I returned to the rib a few days later to check things over.
As more bad weather was predicted I decided to carry out checks on my customers and friends boats while afloat and do a rubbish job at dodging the downpours! 🙄🌦️😂

This stunning Beneteau Barracuda 7 powered by a Suzuki DF200AP had been sat for awhile. It was reported the engine wouldn’t run and was slow to turn over.
I was asked to get it ready for the rest of the season.
The boat was collected from the customers mooring and towed to .marine for haul out.
The batteries were charged and tested, both needed replacing. Fuel pre filter drained to find heavy water contamination which had made its way through to the engine fuel system.
The tank was drained, engine fuel components removed, cleaned and tested. Once reinstalled and all filters replaced the tank was refilled and fuel additives added.
Once I was happy the engine was running as it should it was treated to full service. The boat was washed down, under the water line scrubbed and 2 coats of antifoul applied.
Then it was launched, sea trialed and returned to its mooring ready for the rest of the season 👌🔧
