Issues With Poorly Laid Flooring?

Resin flooring should be long-lasting and durable – and provide a cost-effective flooring solution for many industries.

However, if it is incorrectly installed, it may be problematic. Let’s look at some of the issues this could lead to.

Dull or discoloured new floor. Resin floors are available in a range of colours and finishes. But the finish should look bright and fresh no matter the shade.

The ratio of resin to activator should be exact. Mixing should not be left standing for long. Exposure to chemicals or the sun when curing should be avoided.

Choosing an experienced industrial resin specialist company, such as Surface Systems, to work with is therefore vital.

Flooring.... Repair or Replace?

Repairs are often the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to repair damage to your resin floor. Damage to your resin or concrete floor can create health and safety issues and, in some industries, have a detrimental effect on maintaining strict hygiene standards.

Consulting an experienced installation company will enable you to make the right decision as to whether repairing or replacing your floor is the best option for you. Continuous repairing and repatching may end up being less cost-effective and more hassle for your business. Replacing the entire floor area may well then be the best option.

Slip Resistant Floors – A Health & Safety Must Have

Slips and trips are considered to be the most common cause of injury in the workplace, leading to a significant number of lost working days due to resulting injuries.

For most industrial and commercial businesses, installing a slip-resistant resin floor will certainly help prevent slips and falls.
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees and anyone who may be affected by their work, including taking steps to control slip and trip risks.

Case Study Spotlight: Fish Processing Plant in the South West 🐟

We recently tackled a challenging flooring and drainage issue at a fish processing plant in the South West. The factory was experiencing water-pooling in one area, causing safety and hygiene concerns.

Our solution? ✅

Removed the existing floor and installed a stainless-steel drainage channel linked to the existing system.

Applied a polymer-modified screed to falls, ensuring effective water flow.

Completed the job with a 9mm-thick yellow polyurethane floor, designed for durability, hygiene, and compliance with industry standards.

The result? A safer, more efficient workspace for the client and their team. 👏
